View Full Version : Graphics Still Not Adressed!

Okay so I voiced my concern during the beta (along with many others) about the bad state of the graphics in this game and this has yet to be adressed. Only respons I've gotten from Ubi so far is that they were asking about my PC specs as if that will change anything.

For the record these are my specs and I run the game maxed out at 60 fps (locked smh)
- Nvidia GTX 1080
- Intel i7 6700k 4ghz
- 16 GB RAM
- Windows 10
- Installed on SSD

Now to the matter at hand. The game is suffering from a lot of graphical issues that NEEDS to be adressed and I will try to name them all.

- First of the LOD and draw distance is just a joke for a 2018 game meant for "next gen" consoles and PC. You see shadows, trees, textures and models pop-in all over the place.
Look at how the trees and shadows pop in while flying.. it doesnt look good at all

- Now for the textures they look really out of date. This is supposed to be a 4K game for consoles but I just dont see it.

- The forced Temporal AA makes the game look really blury unless you crank the resolution up to 4K. Which isnt a viable solution for the majority of your playerbase

I'm not hating on this game, I really enjoy it and have already put in 10+ hours in the full game... but this needs to be adressed by the developers or Ubisoft. This is not acceptable in 2018.

Also why is the install size only 24gb? the same as TC1... I'm guessing that has to be one of the reasons the game looks so bad. You have games like Forza Horizon 3 which is around 80-90gb and looks fantastic

The lack of a proper Anti-Aliasing method needs to be addressed as well. FXAA is the only available option, where is MSAA or TXAA for example.

Not only AA, they need to improve the shading too, the trees, drawdistance, lod, screen space reflection, that weird "echo / ghost" effect you see during driving (yes even when motion blur is disabled).

Out of all, i think the tree-leaves pop in and out effect at certain distances are first priority, and the shading of the tree from a distance, mainly the lighting of it.

LODs are awful, plenty of low quality textures and pop-ins everywhere.

that ghost is due to the forced TAA (temporal AA.) you can disable it in one of the .xmls in my documents but you must also disable screenspace reflections otherwise you get a grainy pattern on your screen

You should see the 21:9 Support... It's horrid and we will probably never get a fix since its a pretty small community on this game, And the worst part is on the PC Version Key features the said had "4K (UHD) and Ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio support " yet It's horrid.
Ubi if ur listening please add PROPER 21:9 support and fix these issues above me.

The way trees & foliage pops up as I drive through the map is totally & absolutely annoying. I wanted to purchase the game but I thought twice about it ESPECIALLY AFTER SEEING THE TREES & FOLIAGE ON FORZA HORIZON 4 VIDEOS.

Away from that the game is an improvement from TC especially the smoothing of edges on buildings.

PLEASE PLEASE IMPROVE ON THIS IF YOU ARE LISTENING

I cant help but agree with whats been said here, the poor draw distance and less than great texture quality on the decals leave a lot to be desired. Which makes the disappointing performance all the more unfortunate. I am playing at 5760x1080 which is a lot of pixels to push its still quite a bit less than 4k, I cant even get a reliable 60fps on meduim settings on my 4790k and GTX1080. While the frame pacing when running above 30fps has been massively improved over the first game I still find the performance overall to be poor and the experience of trying to find a balance to get smooth play frustrating.

Seems like they have actually made the game looks worse than TC1 in some areas. I wish they didnt have to compromise so much with TC2 and just push the graphics to what they could be

The biggest problems are draw distance and optimization. Turn off screen space reflections and you will gain massive fps. Can't help you with the pop in textures though.

I think they maybe have some agreement with MICRO$OFT and P$4... to not push PC to next level...

So they dont look so behind...

My RIG are almost in idle... 3620x1527 (21:9)

Assets poping in front of your car are so bad, that It's laughable.

I'm so disappointed to have bought it, but now that I bought, the way it's putting out and praying for something to be done ...

but no one comes to say whether it will or not.

This is not a PC game, at all!

You are telling me the mirrors won't ever work in the game?? Lol i drive in cockpit mode i just assumed it was a bug or something they missed.

no, sry to disappoint you but mirrors in TC2 are even worse than they are in TC1. And they dont work in TC1 either.

Fully agree on the Lod thing, it has gotten worse throughout the Betas and since the version Ubi is selling IS the open Beta (just compare the options menu and the graphics so you see) there isnt much hope.

When roads in a quite short distance become blurry mud lines it isnt funny anymore.

This is ridiculous

I reported many stuff during the betas and got no response whatsoever from Ubisoft on these forums.

Now I come back to see that the same HORRIBLE graphics are still in place and NO REPLY from them on any related post.

While I can play FH3 maxed out with 80+ FPS on 1440p, this game has worse graphics than GTA V with texture mods and is locked to 60 FPS and can still stutter below 60.

I enjoyed the map and gampeplay but will only buy this if they fix this ridiculous PC port or when it's on sale.

Shame on you Ubisoft for launching this garbage on 2018 and not even replying to customers.

I mean, you bring up Mirrors in this game when not even GTAV has working mirrors. Hell most racing games use super low-rez textures for mirrors anyway. Why bother?
