Greetings all! I don't get to this forum too often so I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong forum or if it may have already been suggested.
Anyhow, I would like to suggest that the in-game DF map "not" show the locations of where enemy players have selected. Or at least give the host the capability to turn this function on or off.
Many of us plan weekly engagements against other squadrons. We fly full-realism. We spend a lot of time planning and setting up strategies only to be foiled because the other side can simply look at the map before they launch and head into that general direction.
I hope you'll give my suggestion some thought.

Hi Thud,

I understand what you are saying, but some times I think this game is very unrealistic. In WW2 I got the idea that aircraft had two main purposes.

Attack and Defence.
Taking Stalingrad, the city was pounded by bombers from 100s of miles away I guess. Then there were probably some interceptors scrambled to attack thouse bombers. Although maybe before the battle some aircraft would go and destroy the base to stop thouse aircraft.
The bombers surly knew where the base was from spy planes way before the battle. Only a stupid general would not know where he was attacking and where his enemies positions were.

And bases did not spring up over night they were there for years or like Henderson that was captured by the Americans.
Both sides should never see each others bases in a dog fight at the same time and no stupid side by side bases /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif .

Don't you think they had the intel to know where enemy bases could be located?

Not always. VVS was master at camoflage. Read the P~38 pilot story in GD and we see in Italy the LW had airfields all over the place that based only 2-3 fighters. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

USA built airfields that were visible to pilots returning from Mars missions.

btw...exactly how *big* km by km are the new onwhine dogfight maps? Hopefully bigger than 50km x 50km so they can be used for good offwhine missions too.

I find the overall game and maps to be more than adequate. It just seems to me that limiting such intel to your enemies will provide a more fun and challanging game overall.

Ooops! I did not finish. I'm not asking to hide the field locations, just how many people are flying from those locations.

It's amazing how quickly a forum quickly slides down the bottom and on to page 2, 3, and out of site & mind. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

A single bump in hopes to spawn some interest.
