View Full Version : Healing in Tribute

So i just had a 25 kill match as a Kensei in Tribute and couldn't help but feel a bit dirty because of my healing feat. After the fierish first-minute skirmish i just defended our base the whole game and didn't die once.

Now don't get me wrong i don't want them to disable that feat on Tribute and i realize that some characters have minor advantages over others anyway (shinobi can steal offerings lighting-fast for one example) but instead give players other options for healing besides executions?

I've seen people suggesting that you'd recover a small amount of health when planting offerings to your shrines, i think that's the perfect solution! And not talking about a lot of hp, just so that it gives you some survivability since that's pretty crucial in this mode.

Im guessing this would be pretty easy to implement as well, can't see the devs prioritizing Tribute fixes right now but this could easily be slipped into the next patch. Unless i know absolutely nothing about game developement .

Thanks for sharing the suggestion, kristopee!

I'd love to hear from some additional opinions from other regular Tribute players out there. What are your views on the healing feats when playing Tribute?

Seeing as how alot of the cast do not have a healing feat and it can be hard to perform an execution in groups I agree with this method. Something should be done but it isnt essential either.

Now that i think about it more, one thing highly conserns me. This could bring the trolls to Tribute. Most of the Tribute players are cool but on rare occasions i've been continuosly hacked and slashed by a teammate and the only reason i can think of that apparently they wanted the points for the offering i was carrying lol

Now imagine if there was hp on the line, oh god. One solution could be to make it so you won't drop the offering if you take friendly fire tho?

Might actually be that i was interrupted mid-animation, not while carrying. Can someone confirm if you can or cannot make a teammate drop their offering since im really confused and tired, thx!

I believe they got rid of teammates causing you to drop the tribute but am not sure.

If thats the case we could always have a health spot like in skirmish

That could work as well but in that case i'd prefer them placed near the shrines so the focus would stay on fighting for the objectives

If at all possible itd be better if we gain health on picking up an offering or placing it so the objective is always played

Tribute has to be the least rewarding game mode in For Honor, you work your a$$ off all round and dominate, hardly taking any losses all round, barely a death on your entire team, then at the very end when your whole team is near dead from dominating the entire match and not dying, the other team finally wipes yours, take all your flags and wins the match, welcome to tribute.

It's no wonder the mode died.

Isnt that the beauty of it? No matter the odds your team always stands a chance of crawling back from the grave.

Unlike dominion which once the other team gets a hold of their feats you have to work your *** off to even bring the score even. Or to try and make your vegetable minded teammates realize running into a 4 manned zone alone over and over isnt going to turn out well.

Tribute offeres a more strategic value then a hack and slash in my personal opinion. You have many different options on how to work with your team to acquire an offering.

Do I leave behind my ally to hold off the enemy while I take the offering? Do I stay and guard our offering or try and help my team capture one of the opponent's?

For me Tribute offers many different play styles and they wont always work so you must stay vigilant and change your play style as needed. I feel dominion is usually a mindless try and kill each other and not worry about the objective type of game.

You call it strategy, I call it luck, it doesn't seem like anyone uses any strategy in Tribute, to me it just feel like skirmish until the last minute, whoever wins that last fight, wins the match.

I dunno, just my take, all the back and forth in that mode just becomes annoying to me, not exciting.

I guess the game mode just isn't for you then and honestly that's okay, not everyone likes Tribute and i can respect that.

I myself enjoy it because it feels like im actually fighting for something, a purpose. You see people escorting their carriers and when you get 2 offerings there's always at least one who stays to guard the base etc.

Imagine this: your team is about to lose in a matter of seconds. You're fighting 1v1 on one shrine while there's a 3v3 further away. You barely defeat your opponent and with your last strenght you grab the offering and you won't let go since the clock has reached zero. With your last breath you're able to pull the offering off the shrine and prevent the loss, then get stabbed in the back. Moments later your team wins a 4v4 teamfight and is able to claim victory. Now that's a rush right there! ...or winning a match in 2 minutes lol

Because of the flawfull point system, in Domination it's more rewarding to run around killing people than holding zones and that's what makes Tribute superior in my eyes even tho i play Dominion daily.
