You know, I downloaded the 1.2 beta patch, and I've done a few things with it, I've set up some B-17 and P-51 waypoints, and basically tested the new models. All seem pretty accurate BTW. Anyway. I feel bad. Oleg, I know you were working hard as was the rest of the Dev. team, and even though I cheated and used the patch for a few hours, I simply couldn't resist and I tried it. I had held out for a few days, but after those days, my curiosity got the better of me. I hate when that happens and I know you're really angry. I wouldn't mind if you delayed the patch. We do deserve it anyway.
In no way do I deem my behavior appropriate. In fact, I consider myself the lowest of the human slime. I should have known better, I should have made a better decision. I could have started work on my movie later, but I was too excited.

I'm sorry I got out of control, and I hope you accept this apology, and that the rest of the FB community who is using this patch without the permission of 1C stops, as I will, until the real patch comes out.

Please, post your apologies and promise not to use the leaked patch until the real patch comes out.

It's a beta of a freeware patch, which has no commercial value.

It's a patch that only few customers even know about (essentially, forums' followers), and know very well of its origin, meaning and content. In fact, you won't see anybody complaining about its faults. And that it's a mere work-in-progress.

UBI and 1C:Maddox are not damaged because of the leakage, and might even have been the origin of the leak, to get some response prior to the official release, without exposing themselves to the usual whining that occours.

Think of it as the FB version of the "leaked" unofficial Detonator releases...

Plitely collecting glitches, bugs and suggestions, is no harm to anyone, and can ease true betatesters and coders' job.

My opinion.

Your post is absolutly ridiculous. Trying to gain brownie points for something you do not know for a fact is just plain brown nosing to put it litely.

Oleg, if you read this, I downloaded the beta patch the first chance I got, installed it 2 min later, and was flying the P-51 about 30 sec. after, and it kicks butt. Keep up the good work Oleg, myself and many others really appreciate it.

Actually, the guy feels sorry for doing it. If he feels that he is guilty and that apologizing for it is what needs to be done, let the guy do it. You don't need to patronize him.

I say good for you to the guy who can realize a mistake and appologize for it. He didn't even have to...thats the good thing. Maybe some others need some lessons in humility.

yea i felt a little bad about having to sneak around and get it unofficially, but i don't think it'll hurt anything. in fact it will probably allow a more bug free final release. i'm sure oleg isn't crying or anything; however, like others said, if this was a paid add-on, everything would be different.

VW-IceFire and crazyivan1970 seem to be the only people posting here who appreciate what Boosher has tried to do.

(Thank you).

He has done something for which he regrets and wishes only to apologise for a moment of preceived weakness. Some of the rest of you seem to think that this sense of personal responsibility is somehow inappropriate.

It doesn't matter whether what he did is right or wrong, he felt that it was wrong and felt the need to apologise, even if it may not neccesary.

The attitude demonstrated by some posters to this thread is what (IMO) is fundamentaly wrong with the USA. (I cannot speak for countries I don't live in).

And don't for a minute think I'm blindly supporting a squad member. I would have posted this if I didn't know him from Adam, though I'm sure you won't belive me.

All of you are completely missing the point. My mother didn't tell me to do this, nor my parents, mentors, relatives, etc... I did it on my own. If you didn't realize, Oleg is pi$$ed that one of his staff or one of the UBI staff leaked the unfinished patch out to the public. I'm apologizing for downloading it. I think we all owe him a huge apology. Whether we downloaded it or not, our "lust" for this patch made us jump to it. Sure, I bet a lot of people are happy. I was happy when I thought they released a Beta patch! But when I found out it was leaked, I was shocked! I had no idea! Maybe Oleg will delay the patch, from what I'm seeing, there's a lot of "screw Oleg" sentiment here. It's all about you. Frankly, yeah, that's the way most humans are. But shouldn't we try to be above that. I'm apologizing for installing the patch without permission from him. The leaked patch was not for us. I am not saying you have to delete it, or bash your computer in because you have it, I'm just saying sorry for using something without permission from its owner. It's kind of like stealing with the intent to put it back.

Mods, LOCK THIS THREAD, obviously, the people on these forums don't understand what decency is. Or at least, the people who have replied here don't understand.

The person who he thinks he wronged was Oleg. Why not a PM? Why a public apology? He didn't do anything to us. If i felt a need to apologize to Oleg. That's what I would have done.

There are reasons he did it in public, but I don't see a reason to talk about them.

Hey I agree with the guy - I'm sure I could dl the thing and play it - I choose not to - for many reasons - most inmportant in my book is that it is not finished and it's not fair to the rest of the community that I should be allowed to play it 2 or 3 weeks prior to anyone else... I am not a beta tester and those that have used it are not beta testers and can only report bugs that they think need reporting - everyone will have different results - but your not telling how you have your system - you are only complaining about a bug that you have...

As I said in another post - I hope that Oleg will change something in the update that require that each of the Beta-Patch stealers to reinstall their game!

I write some code - and let me tell you - it's very frustrating when someone gets ahold of something that your not finished with - they start complaining and never stop to realize that I am fully aware of the problems - I just don't re-compile everything again for one mispelled word on... Get my drift??

You beta-patch stealers are judging an unfinished product and are doing more damage by posting problems - because rest assured - someone will remember your problem refer to it- bring it back up in 6 months and say - "See they knew it was a problem when it was released"

Early bird gets the worm - but the patient mouse gets the cheese - or I should say the second mouse gets the cheese!

On another note - look at what happened to Half Life 2 - some impatient people caused the game to be delayed - until what like April - even heard rumors of late summer or fall of 2004 - when it was on schedule to be on shelves for Christmas this year!

Well there's my 4 cents - so I can't post anything else today...

I appluad your conviction and sense of morality. Hats off to you mate. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif However I think you should not feel so bad, we have no idea where it came from. Pretty silly posts (by the originator of this thread).

"I wouldn't mind if you delayed the patch. We do deserve it anyway."

"we"?

'I' would sure mind, and 'I' do not deserve it.

"I think we all owe him a huge apology."

There is that "we" again. Speak for yourself. I surely do not need to be punished or apologize for something you did.

I am not sorry at all. In fact I think the Beta was so good I am STILL excited about the prospects of the full 1.2. Experience has shown me that Oleg does the right thing by us. I know some will disagree with that staement, which is thier business but I am not sorry. Besides like Eagle said...it's not like it is pirated or something. It's a beta of a fee addon. If it was a paid add-on that would be stealing...... Not good. ..... This 1.2b has given me the best simming experience EVER.... I am thrilled to be a part of this sim and this community and Oleg is gauranteed that unless I am on a respirator I will be buying anything that he & 1C put out till they provide a reason to do otherwise. I think they all did a FANTASTIC job on that beta...and the 1.2 will be...whew!!!! Better??!!!! It's not stealing, no money lost to anyone, afaik. Nothing to regret Boosher, you've done absolutely nothing wrong. The only wrong behavior possible in this situation (other than for the original leaker, who broke his NDA) is how you deal with responding to what you see. Don't complain, and if you find a genuine problem, provide feedback in a non-obtrusive way (i.e. not on the forums, but by e-mail).

Only the Beta testers betrayed Olegs trust. We the gamers did not. I mean come on! Its not like we just stole the sorce engine from Valve. Its just a beta for a patch not a whole entire game that was leaked. We paid for FB and if there is a leaked beta of a patch then we can download it. Imagine there's a band that's working on a new version of an older album. It's going to be free but it will still bear the name of the band and they want it to be right. Part of their technique is to distribute tapes of sessions to trusted friends to get opinions on various parts only. They're not the intended product but close with tries at variations to see how they sound and fit.

And one the friends hears that "this may be the one" so allows others to copy and distribute the new music for fans of the great band. This is in effect, a ripoff.

To make matters worse, the a$$hats getting the copies come waving them in the face of the band with the whole range of comments about it, knowing that the band disapproves. How long before it's news? Light don't travel so fast!

When the real album comes out it will not be new and it will always be compared to the leaked tape.

Oh wait... this actually has happened to a real band already and they were very unhappy.

It's very hard to be as creative as you once were after you've been betrayed, screwed (yes, there's a better word but it's against forum rules to print f___ed) and then told all about it by piles of people. So maybe all that's being done is fans of FB are screwing themselves in the long run. Anyone who has worked by mainly creative effort as a base will appreciate that and those who are drones or worse just won't get it but hopefully be a bit insulted by the implication. Be known by your response.

Boosher, what you did was good and honorable. And you did try and set an example. I salute you.

God, never knew there were so many drama queens around here. Chill out Leakwhiners! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

p.s. Your band analogy holds if you consider this: the burden of responsibility lies on the person who copied and circulated the original tape, not with those who listened to it. The fans listened to the music because they loved it.

Now guess why people downloaded the leaked patch.

I'm actually much surprised about the hoo-haa regarding this new beta patch.

Before the 1.1 patch, FB had a few issues which for me, personally, were showstoppers, and I was impatient to get a patch for that (the ships, the prop pitch, the shaking with some German guns etc.).

However, since the 1.1 patch, I don't see the need for any urgent changes. I haven't even tried downloading the new beta patch. I just play FB and am happy.

The purpose of this posting? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Just to say how I feel /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Yes he's mad, but it's not because you stole something. He's mad because the people that got ahold of it came into his Ready Room and began to bittch and complain about all the bugs that he knew existed anyway. He doesn't personally care if you installed it or not.

Grow up.

Get a life.

Maybe some good has come from the reporting anyway. There will be further changes in missed errors as Oleg has posted about today in this thread:

It is still not polite for much of what has been posted about the leaked patch but then this board is well known for rudeness.

Maybe it is time for my two cents...or four...how much ever...

Anywho...I downloaded the patch, installed it and I play it hear and there, mainly cause I like to fly the P-51. That's about all I use it for unless I go into a Dogfight with someone.

Oleg did a great job as far as I can see, I don't see anything wrong with the planes, I may have said something but I was just kidding about it.

I see no reason at all why you have to whine about the planes in it, mainly because I don't look at it to see if there is anything wrong, I use it cause I like the new planes and the new maps. Something different to do I guess lol.

So if you whine about the patches cause of the planes or some bug, remember what the others have posted.

"It's not like Oleg doesn't know about it!"

Anyways, Oleg has been doing a great job on this game and I S! him for that.

And that's all I've got to say about that.

S!
(theres my two cents)

You know what,

Here is my 2 cents and many may not agree with me but my opinion and thoughts are my own. This is directed toward the negativity in this post.

People need to get a grip on this subject. Boosher is trying to apologize for doing a dishonest thing (Not saying your dishonest Boosh), but come on dont down the guy because he is trying to make ammends and show decency, which some of you show lack of. I for one will not download a beta patch that is leaked simply because it is beta. Those that work very hard on their programs have to go and change it etc etc....you know where im going with this.

I myself have been there and done that with beta testing. Its no ball of wax iI tell you. When a dishonest Beta Tester gives it to a friend and so on then the whole world knows about it, dont you think it would delay it a bit more so they can change what is wrong? Cmon common sense here.

You know Something, I would not doubt If Oleg and his team delay the 1.2 for the pay addon, make you folks pay for it instead of being free (Oleg theres an Idea!). Maybe that would curl some toes. See some people are very ungrateful for what Oleg and his team have done for us as a sim. I surely am Grateful, the sim's realism convinced me to move from CFS2. Oleg your doing a fine job! Dont let anyone tell you differently.

If you folks dont like my post then deal with it. You folks should be giving constructive criticism, as well as helpful ideas many of you have. It is the chosen few who have decided to whine and complain.

Boosher, Hats off to you for your integrity man. You did the right thing and dont let anyone tell you different

Good boy. And now that you're so ashamed, you're going to uninstall and delete the 1.2 beta from your HD and any other store, and use just the 1.11 official patch, aren't you? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I honestly don't feel guilty - for having the patch - at the same time - I've never complained, whined thought or felt the dev team was taking too long, or that anything was terribly wrong with the fms. These guys are very thorough, and they have a huge product to manage. This leaked patch is a simply amazing piece of work - some of the subtleties of things that have allready been done in it are just incredible - and say volumes about what an evolved and refined simm this is. I'm very much looking forward to the full release and I hope the feedback recieved about this patch has in some ways been useful.

If I feel a conviction to apologize for something I have done, that's what I do. Boosher felt bad and is not ashamed to publicly apologize to Oleg and the community as a whole. You may ask, "Why apologize in a public place?" Actually we are a community, and whether we like it or not, the actions of one affects us all. Example, the action of leaking this beta patch may have delayed the release of the official patch. I did say may. But it was leaked by ONE beta tester. One. And it might affect the community as a whole by delaying its' release. If it does affect us as a community, do you think the beta tester that leaked it should, or owes the community an apology. I do. I've been waiting like the rest of you for the official patch. And if his actions causes me to wait longer, I'm pi$$ed. But a personal apology to Oleg and an apology to us(the community), sincere of course, might alleviate the possibility of waiting to release the official patch. I believe that is where Boosher is coming from. Boosher has high moral standards and huge kahunas for apologizing publicly. I support him, salute him, and am proud to be associated with him. This community should be glad to have him as a part of it. Thanks Boosher for being the man you are. S!
