My Cougar just arrived a few weeks ago and just installed PF+FB+AE. Can anyone tell me where I can download a profile for the Cougar?

I'm also flying a Cougar. I use Maj's Merged Profile for AEP/PF. It works great and its designed for folks with TrackIR. This gives me the bonus of being able to map my trim settings to the rotaries on the throttle, schweet...

I have a good one a friend made that I can share if you want. Just send me an email and I'll send it off to ya. GaryTurk182 at cs.com with Cougar Profiles as heading.

Once you've installed a profile its very easy with the Foxy program to modify it to suit your needs. They've done all the hard work of setting up the macros.

Becoming proficient with Foxy is a great goal. Developing your own ability to customize your individual Cougar profile is very powerful, particularly when interfacing with controllers other than the Cougar. For example, I use a Nostromo N52, an X-keys 24 button pad in conjuntion with my Cougar because it allows me to keep only the most essential controls at my throttle and joystick while flying.

Here is my current configuration (Please pardon the large image, but I think it's necessary to read the details).

I've developed this layout over the last two years, customizing it to fit various situations which have come up, like multi-channel comms (TeamUSA TeamSpeak) and extra controllers - Xkeys and Nostromo - which allow me to off-load some of the more mundane/less used commands to these secondary devices.

I also wanted to keep the modes on the joystick down to two levels per control, as it's easier to learn and remember...

The basic premise is to keep all engine related controls on the throttle and all combat/flight/view related controls on the joystick.

Nostromo setup -

If you are interested in the macro/joystick files let me know. If you have trouble with stuff like Foxy programming, just tell me what you'd want to change and I'll remap it for you.

Thanks to all. I am new to the Cougar programming and Foxy. Although I would like to try creating a profile myself, I'd rather try a few profiles first to get some idea. So for now I would like to find a few profiles and try them. I have gone to the Frugals site and downloaded the profile for PF. I still would like to try other's if they are willing to share their profiles. Again, thanks a lot for your replies.

I have had a Cougar for awhile..I'm useing it in DX button mode programmed thru the the game.I have never been able to figure out the programing for it or the Saiteks I have had.Cant figure out all of the shifting etc.Is there a really easy profile I could try that is self explanatory???

The one that Matz posted the link to seems to be pretty easy to work with from what I have looked over. Other than this one go grab them off the cougarworld.frugals.com site and play with each one. The one I like is the JJ_IL2FBAEP file. It seems to be fairly easy to use but it takes some getting used to if you have everything setup via DX buttons.

Sorry I havent replied I forgot about this..When you put a profile in dont you have to create a new pilot and change everything in the controls to match the profile commands? Can you switch back and forth from the profile to DX buttons untill you learn the profile?

Download the profile to the joystick & you can switch to whatever profile you want on the fly (even while cruising in-game) by minimizing FB & opening Foxy, then DL'ing the profile to the HOTAS. It emulates key commands, so the game does not need to actually load the profile. In other words, as long as you have the macros assigned to the default key commands by Foxy, it will work without reassigning control commands in the game.

I use 3 different profiles. 1 for the Wildcat with manual landing gear, one for later model fighters, & 1 for twin engine planes with seperate engine management mapped to the joystick hat switch and no chocks, tailhook etc.
