View Full Version : ME262 a joy to fly!

Who else agrees with me? I find the ME262 the most enjoyable and rewarding aircraft to fly. One of the fastest planes in the sky with 4 nose mounted 30mm cannons that will destroy anything. Be careful to only advance the throttles slowly or risk a turbine that has a dangerously rich fuel air mixture. Sure it doesn't have the acceleration of the props but trim it all out in level flight with around 78% throttle and watch it go. Climb to altitude and dive on a helpless victim to see him cut in half by the explosive MK108 shells!

Landings are hard because of the much wider circuit and the lack of acceleration from the engines and the lack of a big spinning prop to slow you down, but once you land its all the more rewarding experience.

262 is nice for sure, but like all jets they are at a totaly differant level to all prop fighters.

The Gotha is great fun also.

Personally I find it impossible to fly the Me163 without grinning like a goon http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The 262 is fun, but there is nothing more satisfying than shooting one down in a prop fighter.

I agree WOLFMondo, that would be a great challenge and very rewarding.

Someone in a Spitfire shot me down in a ME262, I thought I was invinceable but I let the speed get to low and my advantage was gone.

actually, the ME262 has in my opinion the pretiest pit.

i have flown it to death.

i ones took it to try and land in the middle of downtown leningrqad, on the streets right next to that building that looks like the capitol with the yellow dome and succeeded a couple of times

Agree http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Especially on the unshifted no gunsight perspective - zoomed out.

But the Bf-110 Pit has the edge, one of the best pits in game IMHO

back in 1.2 I once chased down a 262 in yak 3 or something, I was out of ammo but held on to his tail for ages, must have been a rookie as he kept turning. I also had a suprising amount of success against 262s in the P-39 of all things, I must have shot down about 6 or 7 with them.

Haven't encountered them in 4.04 yet, I'm sure it would be a different story,

The 262 could be a sim in itself. Its really one of the coolest planes in the game. I'm actually looking foward to some of the Russian 46' stuff to have new planes to challenge the 262 and 162 on more or less equal footing.

Agree 110%

I was thinking that with the inclusion of the Tempest Mk V, the spit 25lbs and the FM of the La-7 and Yak-3P

we would see the jets on the servers but no...

Guess what kind of jet it was?

For pure enjoyment of handling characteristics I must say the D0335 takes the cake for me. It's the smoothest feeling plane I think I've ever flown.

I also like the handling of the 262, plus it's such a beautiful aircraft.

Me163...I can't stop grinning either, that plane is amazing.

I enjoy fighting in the HE-162 most of all. It only has two guns and two small ammunition magazines, so one must attack with precision. Of all the 'uber planes' I think it is the least uber. It can run rings around a P-80 though.

YP-80 all the way! Me-262's a sweet ride though, but out of the two I'd go for the rude American. The He-162's my choice for Jerry-Jet, even with the wimpy armament. It's just so much more nimble.

Is there a Yp-80 in this game? I never noticed it.

Every time I fly the ME262 it makes me wish Oleg would design a Korea sim.

Boy I'll second that!!!!

I've been wanting to fly a F9F off of a carrier ever since I saw "The Bridges at Toko-Ri" for the first time! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Me too! As the basis for a pre-missile jet sim it'd be the pschnizel. Well, it'd be the pschnizel even if it wasn't. Sabres all the way!

I have to go with the YP-80... those 6 50's are Killers. The Me-262's are Hard Pressed to keep out of it's Gun Sights.
But the ride in the rocket powered Me-163 is a Blast... and it has enough ammo for 3 Bombers and the power to come back and around with Head-On passes.

Now when the Yak-15's and Mig-9's show up, we should have some pretty interesting early jet age scenarios.

Hear!!! Hear!!! I'd love to crawl into a fully loaded A-1 Skyraider, and just terrorize enemy ground forces-for a LONG time.

Then there's the F-86. IMO tied w/ the Me 262 as the sexiest plane ever.

YP-80's suffer cannon envy . . . . .

apparently - we are going to get the Mig-9 & Mig-13 in the coming russian 46 add-on
