Just a question and I may be very premature at this point. I am asking this based on the work I saw on the BOB update site.

Cockpits look fantastic and very full of detail and realism.

My question is: when flying in cockpit view and with TrackIR will we see our legs, arms, hand and other body parts like in real life view? How about body DM too?

If not, please consider adding it. Would be a great feature to this top of the line flight sim. adding a next level of emersion. ... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

This has been discussed. The problem is: parts of your virtual body blocking sight of some instruments. In real life, a simple tilt of the head allows you to see over your arm, or you can take your hand off the throttle for a second.

In the PC sim worls, not so much

Personally I want no effort put into a virtual body, since it takes time, effort, and already taxed processor power to overcome the problems of having a virtual body.

My dollar says "no virtual body" will be in the sim. It's a can of worms

Also, "virtual body" DM, will raise the rating of this sim from PG12+ to too high...not a good idea. Anyway, the virtual body will not move like I do on my seat, so its just wasting valuable polygons in the cockpit view.

It would add immersion, but if you want to see blood, guts, ragdoll physics, you might want to play hl2,ut200x..instead.

Well, Lomac manages to get knees and legs but doesnt go any further than that so you can still see the throttle for example and I doubt it adds much fps hit, if any, since it's jsut another texture. . . I for one like that better than an empty seat, but I can do without it.

well Mr Dietz, I just went to that a few days ago, now Im trying to find the thing.....probably a good reason to let your history file keep stuff more than a day. If i find it ill let you know.

of course, its kinda hard to do much of anything on this lousy dial up stuff here in the stix. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Yes, even LOMAC's minimal "virtual lap" wouldn't work in say a P-40 where your fuel guage is on the floor.

Also don't forget that Oleg is a perfectionist, so if he does a human body he'd insist on modelling all the proper animations which would be different for each aircraft. A static body ghost-manipulating the controls would be as jarring, if not more so, than no pilot at all imo.

Therefore, I too think that would be a waste of resources for very little payback. Much rather that sort of effort be reserved for FM, DM, AI and general gameplay improvements.

BOB will offer TiR support which includes 6DOF. This will not be an issue. If it's an issue because FPS, then maybe a simple line in the ini file to remove the feature much like they have now for removing little sailor guys on ships. Personally, include and allow the user to decide.

Perhaps he was looking at the GMX BoB site...there is a decent looking 109 cockpit pictured in the screenshots???
