Next weekend, August 2nd, there's a 'Gathering of the Classics' air show in Collingwood Ontario, which is on Georgian Bay.

I'm definitely going to be going along with as many cameras as I can find. Discuss here or PM and maybe we can coordinate a meeting of FB freaks out there representing the Ontario contingent of this community /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

PRESS RELEASE:

In 1903, the Wright Brothers forever changed the world of Transportation and Communication. As John Glenn, the first American Astronaut to orbit the earth said, "From the sands of Kitty Hawk to the dust of the moon was just 66 years. That's pretty amazing".

What is also pretty amazing is the significant aviation in this Collingwood Wasaga Beach Region. From Amelia Earharts 1930's landing and take off on the sands of Wasaga, to the creation of Collingwood Classic Aircraft Foundation, by John Worts, Don Currie, Chuck Peacock and Keith Rich in the 1970's to the first gathering of the Classics at Collingwood Regional Airport 15 years ago are significant for aviation in this area.

This year, at the fifteenth Annual Gathering of the Classics we expect to have a full scale replica of The Red Baron's Fokker Triplane. We also are expecting a full scale replica of Canadian WWI Ace Billy Bishop's SE5A. We also anticipate the world's first Corvette powered Sea Bee to be in attendance.

There will be a multitude of aircraft from the Golden Age of Aviation in attendance, including Beavers, Stinson's, Piper Cubs, and Super Cubs, Aeronca Champs and Chief's, Ercoupes, Stearman, Taylorcraft and Luscombe, Tiger Moths Stampe's and Fleet Finch, Fleet Canucks, Austers and Beechcraft.

As well, a wide array of Amateur Builts, RV4's and 6's, Wittman Tailwinds, Seawinds, Pietenpols, and Jodels, as well as a 2/3 scale Spitfire. New and old ultralights as well as the latest Cessna Skyhawk., and the Citabra.

The Gathering of the Classics is the widest, most diverse gathering of light aircraft in Eastern Canada. Don't miss it!

You will have opportunity to make a donation and be given a ride in a WWII Harvard, or a Tiger Moth, or a Fleet Canuck, or an Aeronca Champ. The CCAF Restoration Centre will be open for your inspection.

This bargain is only $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and students over 12, and $3 for children, Parking is FREE, Full Colour 18 page Program is FREE, Unlimited Photo Op's are FREE, Skilled Educational Commentary is FREE

The Gathering of the Classics, Collingwood Regional Airport Aug 2 03. Classic Aircraft, Classic Cars, and Classic Motorcycles! Heaven for nostalgia buffs.
