Picked her up yesterday afternoon for $27,000 USD.

1973 Stingray with matching numbers 454 cubic inch big block & Muncie M21 4 speed manual transmission.

Original colors (exterior and interior), factory A/C, factory alarm, factory luggage rack, and rally wheels.

Idle speed is 650 rpm and she sounds many times better than she looks.

Nice Corvette

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I think you'll find that Borg-Warner trannys are T-10s. My memory says that Muncie in your car is an M21 close ratio

With the 454, that Vette is a fairly rare car

Congratulations. A magnificent beast. The only car which looked as good as a beautiful naked woman. What lines.

'Doh!!! I must hang my head in shame. Although I've been a long time admirer (since I saw Corvette Summer on an HBO (or whatever the first movie channel was called) preview weekend back in the early '80s), only recently have I been in a position to be a driver and in only a few weeks I've read many hundreds of pages covering the C3 series. Thanks for the correction!

With 395 ft-lbs of torque at 2800 rpm she pulls smooth and hard but lacks the ability to put it to the ground. My wife's Grand Prix GXP with the 325 cid aluminum V8 and monster tires will blow it away.

I forgot to mention the best part...

NO AIR pump, NO catalytic converter, and 8 mpg on the highway.

This is the first car my fevered 10 year old mind wanted...

I built the AMT (or was it Revell?) Stingray model dozen of times that summer of 71

I was hoping for a black one also, however, black was not offered as a factory color until later and most quality examples were either never changed from the factory color or returned to the factory color during restoration.

Don't feel too bad. As I recall, the Muncies used design elements from the T-10s anyway

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif You can fix the traction troubles.

Yeah, but try a race from about 60mph to 140 and see how the Grand Prix fairs! Me thinks you will be looking at a dot in the rear view mirror.

Bah, a tacky showoff. Just like a porn actor in a tiger skin tanga slip.

I'd trade five of those for a single Pegaso Z-102.

An interesting statement from one who, judging by their sig, appears to greatly admire the, "porn actor in a tiger skin tanga slip", look. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Kidding aside, who wouldn't trade 5 mass produced vehicles for 1 of only 84 nearly completely hand built vehicles. With only 84 produced you can even overlook the fact that it was just barely above a complete failure as a racer.

She's got 72k on the odometer and according to the Vette expert that looked at it he believes they are most likely original.

The clock works, but I think it's a quartz replacement. The ammeter is the only gauge that doesn't work. This will be a 57 hour week for me so aside from driving it home, the only thing I've done is check the oil and water.

Bet you don't get this beast in the USA!

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7b/Rover_Metro_GTi_red_vr.jpg/800px-Rover_Metro_GTi_red_vr.jpg

I drove that thing for four god damn years! Moving on up slowly, though! Mind you, I simply don't think English roads can handle most big American cars, they're bleedin' massive.

Hearty congratuations to you, Sir. Hopefully I'll be standing next to my Spitfire when I hit my crisis.

My first car was a Vette...a Chevette that is. 1981 model that would barely break 70mph. And speaking of brakes, it didn't have much of those at all so when you finally got to 70mph, you needed room to stay there for a while!
