Wow, even I made my first kill. Actually, I got a kill earlier this week, but I am not sure if I really hit the Yak... I just shot by an instinct and if I hit him, It must have been in the wing, but The Yak turned and then fell like rock... But my "first" kill was tonight on Warclouds. I climbed the dora to 5000 m, staying above the furball. Then I saw a FW190 chased by a Spit. I rolled over and dived for more than 3000 m, finally leveling out with more than 840 on the speedbar, the whole aircraft shaking like mad. the spit in front must have been totally fixed on his target, because he didn't do any evasive maneuvers. And I thought I missed him because my screen froze for about 3 sec when I opened fire. And then I was climbing back up and turned for another dive. But to my amazement that spit was smoking. The chased FW190 was going away, and behind my wounded prey were a Me109 and a second Spit. As the Me109 closed in on the smoker, I started thinking, "so, I got him, but this Me109 will take the credit?! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif But as I dived again the Me 109 missed and in a splitsecond he was a target. The second Spitfire set him ablaze with the very first burst and then broke madly to the left. at this time the smoking Spit went staight down in the drink and I got my first confirmed kill. Then, of course came the adrenaline and the feeling that nothing can stop me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif But as I climbed back a P-51 dived on me and started peppering me. Then another Spit joined, eventually half the panel was gone, the cockpit glass resembled swiss cheese but my sights and I went untouched. I said to myself "I WILL return to the airfield with that kill" and I fought harder to shake them than I've done ever before. I then dived for the deck where a Spit and a Mustang were chasing a smoking Ta-152. I made the Mustang brake the chase, but the Ta was doomed. My chasers apparently did not follow me down, so, after a bit of cruising around I headed for the base. In the circle around I noticed that I had plenty of ammo. and then the game froze. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

on a sidenote, is it possible to customize a skin. I mean I want to add a dolphin on the Hammerd skin of my beloved dora. So, is it technically possible, or a template has to be used. I hope Hammerd will give his permission, because that skin will be only for personal use.
What do you think?

if they didnt want you to use their skins . . . . . they wouldnt have made them available to the public

are you going to make money off it ?

are you going to claim it is all your own work ?

no, Badsight, it is just for me. And it is Hammerd's work, not mine. I will just add a personal sign on it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif And I wouldn't sell it to anyone, that's the point with the personal http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Great feeling aint it,getting your first kill on a full switch server! As for the skins,i dont see that there would be a problem.I D/L loads of skins and add my name under the 'pit, but i would never claim the skin as my own work!

The important thing is the fact you tried to land that kill. So many simply fly into a furball and fly until they die. Even if they get 2,3 or even more kills.

Nice description and good for you mate! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

LOL Congrats!

And changing a skin is no problem as long as it's a publicly available one, and not one you "snitched" fron the Net-Cache...

You might need permission for the dolphin though...

Just load the skin in a paint program like Paint Shop Pro (www.jasc.com (http://www.jasc.com)) has a 30-day trial, so has Photoshop (www.adobe.com (http://www.adobe.com)). For PSP it would go like this:

Open your Hammerd skin, then add a layer, open your dolphin picture, select it and past-as-new-selection onto the new layer...
Save the result as a 1-layer (collapse layers to background), 256-colour (decrease color to 8 bit), Windows BMP file http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
