View Full Version : OT theory: Sigs affect your/their personality!

SeaFireLIV

I think that personal picture sigs affect how a person acts on the forums and how people react to them. I notice this especially when I change sig pictures.

For example...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/SeaFireLIV/ijolly.jpg

People react to you and think your a kid (say 16 to 25). I think I have a jokier way of talking.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/SeaFireLIV/sefirelion.jpg

Some people seem to respond better to my statements. Other take a much negative attitude, sometimes calling me `Arrogant and patronising`.

Maybe i do tend to talk that way with this sig. Dunno.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/SeaFireLIV/osnke.jpg

People think I`m a snake worshipper.
I know I`m not, but I do have a pet snake!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/SeaFireLIV/spitfpetite.jpg
Some think I`m exciting and out-going. (Unlikely). It does make me feel jovial though.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/SeaFireLIV/darkgrey.jpg
This one, people think I`m deep and thoughtful and mature (and a bit sad). And seem to think I`m older than 25! Me. Just work.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/SeaFireLIV/Yakgirlgo.jpg

Some think I`m a women`s lib supporter! Or that I`m even a female!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/SeaFireLIV/Dark.jpg
Some think I`m black with this one. Others a more response to me. I find I`m more serious in my forum waffles with this. It`s a gloomy pic.

So there you go. Be careful what sigs you use to represent yourself. You can be insulted or praised. It`s all psychological.

(Or this may just be a shameless excuse to show off more artwork! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif )

I think your just plugging your artwork again SeafireLIV http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif but I always enjoy looking at your work anyway (didn't you have a website a while back ?).

I would say that your forum Tag has more of an effect on how people treat you myself than your sig. Certainly I find people seem to think I am around 13 because of the way I have capatalised mine. I guess its the old 'Book by its cover' philosophy which I try to adhere to.

Any how this brings me to another question is the 'LIV' roman for 54 or did you mis of the E?

regards

I want a new sig! I've had this one since AEP was released.

I don't want people thinking my prefered ride is a turbo twin clown wagon (j/k).

I sport a Spitfire as a sig pic, because I love them, I almost exclusively fly them nowadays and I think the clipped-wing version looks hella cool. Besides, it's a good representation of what most of my opponents see in their Six view. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

hmmmkay..

I kinda have the same though.. i think.. (plus an excuse to show MY arts here http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

http://members.chello.nl/j.wisseborn2/jugger_owsig2.jpg
This is the one i'm using for my Sound Artist work on some modding project for C&C Generals...
It does not show my age in any way, although it does reflect my favorite (project's) Army in Warhammer 40K.
http://members.chello.nl/j.wisseborn2/mysig1.jpg
This particular one is the one i use on my own dutch forums, depicting my mood and my girlfriend.. This is the only sig i have that really fits 100% to my style..

The one below here is just my general IL2 Sig showing one of my many favorite aircraft, BUT i am far from a blue flyer.. Most of my time with this game is in the P39Q-10 or on the RED side..
In this case, i consider myself a non-aligned pilot who favours both sides... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Seafire...you really need to pick up a book on philosophy and study a bit about the branch of philosophy known as "Aesthetics"

Any person doing a form of art that recreates reality through their sense of imagination in effect reveals to the world their own philosophy and in effect declares who they are.

I am no expert in this field, mind you, but I do know that artwork does in fact reveal your philosophy..specifically how you view reality, rather than affect personality.

Look up a person by the name of Ayn Rand and pick up a book called the "romantic manefesto" or better yet "fountainhead". The latter is a story about an architect...architecture is a form of artwork and is a form of "Aesthetics"

Talking of sky captain, I saw it a few weeks ago. Or, rather, I saw the first 40 mins because it sent me to sleep. I was fortunate enough to wake up for the bit where Jolie appeared in it but it was a terrible waste of time.

You mean you missed the underwater sequence? I tell you, Oleg's totally off the mark with his P-40 modelling.

(For the benefit of the humourless, this post is intended to raise a smile amongst those 'in the know' FB/PF is not by any means, nor should it be inferred that I think it is, a bad flight sim. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, whilst showcasing what can be done with recent developments in CGI, is indeed an insult to the intelligence of any person that parted with hard-earned money to see it. I thought that the picture in my sig just might fit in a forum allegedly dedicated to computer generated aeroplanes. "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar"-S. Freud. A study of Jung might perhaps be more in order here.I'm off for a play in my sandpit).

Well, I'm glad you agree http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif My m8 thought it was so good at the flicks that he even purchased it on DVD - there's no accounting for taste.

It would surely have to rate amongst the worst 3 films I've ever seen along with:

Starship troopers
battlefield earth (the absolute worst film of all time)

I did actually see the uw sequence and Oleg has clearly got it wrong - when you splash a P40, it should be able to escape to base running silent at 30m http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I also thought that the P40 has quite a good range
