I was wondering if its possible to change the sound levels of the p47 and bombers to sound more like the tb3.

Right now the p47 a20 b25 sound identical to the 109 and 190s, is it possible to make a more distinct sound for them like the russian ac have?

Also you have a synth engine for this game isnt it possible to replicate a more realistic engine sound with synth values?

For BOB please dont use this synth engine im sure the majority of the community agrees. Real engine sounds add so much to a wwii sim.

Or even just a more advanced synth system that is able to combine the sounds of the real engines with the necessary pitch, frequency, etc functions that can generate the fantastic sound abilities (in terms of doppler effects, pitch and RPM changes, etc.) currently present and add the authenticity of real sounds.

If I'm not totally satisfied with current sounds, I'm still a huge supporter of the synthetiser approach and I'm hoping to see newer & better evolutions of it! Hopefully in BoB!
Let me explain why I think synthetiser are more appropriate to a simulation.

Let's take the Staccato Engine (from www.staccatosys.com (http://www.staccatosys.com) - sadly, they're out of business). I remember a little executable demonstration by the time it was featured in a Nascar racing simulation called "Nascar Revolution".
If I remember correctly, you could select the number of cylinders, total displacement and some other exhausts options. then you could run the synthetiser and slide a RPM bar. While produced sounds weren't to be confused with real ones, results were promising (and I speak of year 1999-2000 IIRC)!
Now, to stick closer to IL-2 & BoB. Imagine that you're flying at a determined pitch, throttle, exhaust pressure & so on and you have a nice roaring engine sound and BANG!!! your engine gets hit by something and a cylinder dies (judging by the insane level of detail of upcoming BoB damage models, it's likely!)... The noise will be then "adjusted" and its sound will give a feedback on current state of engine health (if gauges don't show http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif).
Now imagine that with sampled sounds, I'm sure it wouldn't be as homogenous and credible as a synthetiser.

That's just my opinion, assuming that the synthetiser would take lots of engine settings/damages into account...Which I'm not sure at all after all http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Greetings

EDIT : found an old page referring to the staccatosys engine - looks like Yamaha bought it and it kind of disappeared: http://www.nascarrevolution.com/downloads/staccato3.html

well i did have the wierd sound in the Hurri P40 P51 once when hit in the engine ,it was making this very high RPM sound with a strange undertone which is nice i think but dunno if its realistic or not

yeah, I think IL2 already uses synths, let's just cross fingers http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif technology evolves so quickly http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hi all.
I'm interestning- please mr.Oleg tell us in BoB we will hear realistic sounds building on WAVE file like in others games?
Best regards.
