View Full Version : Game: Famous Movie line Trivia

Okay-

Here is how it goes. You name a famous movie line. Someone has to name the Movie and Actor who said it. No googling people. Then someone else quotes a new movie line and we guess that one.

I'll start:

"You have enough to handle with your coffee and little spoon."

Also someone needs to name the actor who said the line.

So, I'll take "When a Man Loves a Woman" released in 1994 and lets have it be Michael who was speaking.

Next up, we'll use the following famous but becoming obscure line:

"Rosebud."

Not only do I want to know what movie it is from. But who said it and who was Rosebud anyway. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

"Citizen Kane" was the movie, and also the name of the character who said, "Rosebud." Orson Welles was the actor's name.

Rosebud was his sled when he was a boy.

Hmmm... I'll be back with a new movie line in a few minutes...

Ok, here it is. Name the movie and the actor:

"But I do not think you will accept my help, since I am only waiting around to kill you."

Ahh, a game after my own heart.

Answer: Inigo Mantoia(sp?).. the Princess Bride

Here's a famous quote from a very famous film:

"We'll always have Paris."

There are several other famous lines from this film, and strangely enough, the most famous line was never actually spoken. I'll give the line once someone posts the correct response.

Rhoswen
01-03-2004, 01:43 AM
"Casablanca". Rick (Humphrey Bogart) says the line. And the most famous line, which was never said, was "Play it again, Sam." Instead, it was something like, "Play it once more, for old time's sake," or something like that.

Next movie line:

"You talkin' to me?" (It's been said lots of times, but in which movie was it made famous, and by whom?)

Actually many people think Bogart said "Play it again, Sam". What he really said was, "Play Sam. You played it for her you can play it for me. If she can take it so can I." Cue piano music and flashback scenes. Ingrid Bergman said the "old time's sake" line.

My turn.

"Put simply, in deference to you, Kent."

I'm not sure, but I think that's from The Producers... the guy playing Hitler... I'm not sure what his character name is.

Since its been 8 hours....the quote:

<Sriking his fist on the map> "Pound them, Charlie! Pound them!"

Is from, one of the greatest films of all time......

Drum roll please...

Lawrence of Arabia...The intructions of the British commander to his officers to prepare for the takeover of Damascus by british and arabian armies.

A great film...and very educational to see how the whole middle east was not that long ago...

Oh and not to mention that its a 7 time academy award winner....

Also for you trivia buffs:

The original movie was so long that most theaters cut it themselves. In the early 70's a fire claimed all the original prints. So there is in fact no complete copy of the movie in existance. Also, for the DVD release, many of the scenes (found only in private collectors hands) had lost all color, audio, and were not much more they crumbling flakes of film...they, however, were able to restore almost all of them, and got the original cast to re-record sections of the audio...

Well worth the three and a half hours for any film buff.

I'll add a hint, one of the last great movies made in the film-noir style. The story takes place in the 40's, and is the first of two movies. It's starring role is someone who is still considered to be one of the top actors of the today...also known for sticking his head through a door and saying "Here's Johnny", creating the "Bat", and tends to play roles that are a bit "Cuckoo".

I just watched "Raiders of the Lost Ark" on DVD the other day, so I should totally know this.

My best guess is that the quote was from Indy's nemesis, archeologist Rene Belloq when Indy was in the "Well of Souls" after he had already lifted out the ark of the covenant. After that Belloq throws in Marion and seals them inside.
