The gf tried playing last night, and gave up after several tries claiming it was too hard.
The mission I built for her- landing on an enemy carrier during a heavy storm at dusk
(her- "why does the screen keep going black?" me- "because you suck.") may have been a bit intense- I need the respect- but I was wondering what mission conditions, plane, etc anyone else would setup for someone who had to be shown how to make the plane go up and down. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Super EZ GF mission (the one I used with mine):
Create a one plane (spitfire) mission without waypoints on a hilly MP map. Then, have your GF pilot the spitfire at low level in random slaloms around the hills.

She'll like it and she's gonna think "Hey wow, I'm doing it hard and fast". The eyecandy and sense of speed on the deck will get to her, plus the fact that the spitfire is totally girly in appearance will be the killer blow http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

My GF flies regularly now http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Doesn't have to be a girly plane. In fact, I'm not even sure if I want to be sharing my rig... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Take a hypothetical 6-10 year old beginner, how would you get them interested and not too frustrated with a mission?

Hurricane Mk11c a good plane, not prone to spins, and with massive firepower?

The game is specifically designed to scare casual gamers, girls, kids, and non-geeks. Oleg will sue you if you keep advertising it like that.

When I first got this game I must've installed it and uninstalled it a dozen times, re-booting and generally being seriously, monitor through the window, pissed off with it crashing all the time. I'd be flying along and all of a sudden...the screen would go black!

Took me ages to figure out it meant I was dead.

True.
