I have searched the forum for information about this but found nothing recent.

Does IL-2:FB have multi-monitor support? I was hoping to add two side monitors to have views to the front left and front right . Logistically, it would be relatively inexpensive and is something I'd like to consider seriously.

Thanks

FB does support multi monitors , just ask Dexmeister ( who posts here) , if he sees this thread he will answer. You will need a video card that supports this , the Matrox Parhelia is one ..

i think

Dexmeister uses three monitors...

he will likely show up in this thread and give you some infos about that. and then, shortly after that, the ace of all aces - RBJ - will share his thoughts about multi monitors... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

This is very interesting, my GF2 Ti is creaking under the strain of FB at high detail levels with no AA or ASF at all! So I am looking for a new graphics card at the moment.

I have not been able to find any performance figures for running 3 moniorts at once - which is what I would do (for gaming and apps). I assume that running more than one monitor leads to a performance hit.

Would anyone how runs this setup like to comment on the multi-monitor game performance? Or know where I can find out?

Thanks

Hey Chipspin. Check out these two threads to see about it. I've commented about performance somewhere in the second thread.

In a nutshell, I LOVE multimonitor support. It *may* be possible with Nvidia or ATI cards but I'll take a Matrox over either of those any day. It's changed my simming so much for the better.

The performance hit running 3 is real, but once the patch is released I may be able to revise that because a second tripleview mode will be fixed for FB that may improve my FPS by up to 60% according to Matrox, which I believe.

Also, I'm self employed and use my PC for work and it's fantastic. A real productivity aid. I can look at a doc on one screen, do development on a second, and do graphics on a third, for example.

Definitely worth considering but it has a cost.

Actually, Matrox has done a great job getting support for their card in modern games/sims. Here's some that I play:

-FB
-Ghost Recon
-FS2002
-CFS3
-Rise of Nations
-Deadly Dozen
-Operation Flashpoint
-Pro Race Driver

Upcoming support includes LOMAC and FS2004. What else could you ask for? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

both nvidia and ATI current AGP cards only support dual monitors

this means the third monitor would need to be on a PCI card with corresponding FPS hits .. assuming you can do it in FB at all

the Matrox is the best solution for 3 monitors

Yes, correct. I tried this before I grabbed the Matrox using a TI4600 and a Radeon PCI and it was far too much trouble since Windows isn't that great at getting it all together. Also, I don't think the second monitor run off of an AGP will fully support 3D accelleration, which resulted in me running FS2002 with one monitor looking pi$s-poor and very slow.

The Matrox is a seamless, easy way to achieve it all. Too bad Nvidia and ATI haven't looked into it much yet. One day they will, I'm sure.
