Since I Bought this Game I have not played another computer game other than a small smash car Game called Flatout. I have not looked at these games Since getting SH3:

Brothers In Arms
Americas Army
Half Life 2
Evil Genius
Lock On MAC
Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay
Doom3
Counterstrike

What games are you not playing anymore? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Rome: Total War ( I consider Total War series the best of pure strategic gaming)
Sid Meier's Pirates (just for the old times fun)
...and abandoned my participation in a couple Battlefield 1942 campaign systems

I bought Brothers in Arms along with SH3. I kinda interleave the two. It's great cuz they both have WW2 theme. I actually finished Brothers in Arms last week. Now I'm playing FIFA2k5 along with SH3 :-)

I actually burned myself out on SH3 after a straight 5 weeks of virtually non-stop playing and switched back to Rome: Total War to try out the Total Realism mod. Quite a bit more difficult on the harder levels, if I may say so myself.

Considering picking up Imperial Glory when it comes out next week. My last final is on Friday and then it's 11 weeks of vice and debauchery before law school starts, so I might as well get my fair share of gaming in.

Hi all, first time virgin thought I must reply since obtaining SH3 on release date not entered my mind to play anything else. In limbo at present time due to waiting for replacement graphics card as one bought to play SH3 had corrupted pixels. games relegated to bin....
Lock on..SH2..destroyer command...CFS3...b17...Blackhawk down...and many more, Do hope postman pulls his finger out and delivers card or I'll have to walk dogs or talk to her indoors.

Since SH3 came out, I fly much less in FS9, as well as PF and Lomac. Still play a bit with Republic Commando, MOHPA, and just got today Empire Earth 2, so I guess I´ll be spending my week end with both SH and EE2

SH3 dominated my PC time from the day of the release. From the moment it plopped onto my doormat I haven't stopped playing it, forsaking Counterstrike: Source and my 3D animating in Lightwave.

At almost exactly the same time my 2 friends purchased World of Warcraft, and became insane addicts of that game world. Not being history buffs I never tried to talk them into Silent hunter III, but they incessantly tried to get me to walk around in WoW for hours on end making leather purses and having fights with NPCs where all you do is face the right way and tap the mouse key a lot.

I picked up SH3 and BiA on the same day, March 18th. I uninstalled BiA after a few days (felt like a bad console port). I haven't stopped enjoying SH3 and hope to play it for a long time yet.

At the time I was playing much too much WoW (lvl 60 and 53 on a PvP server). After installing SH3 I cancelled my WoW account the next day (that game is dangerously addictive anyway - time sink central). I also gave RTW a rest for now, though looking forward to the expansion. I'm still using FS9. Like Zig, I abandoned the whole IL-2 series a while ago. I did actually purchase and install IL-2:PF a week or so ago, and uninstalled it few days later. That engine is really showing its age.

That's about it for me.

And so quick to judge.

There's a hell of alot more to driving a train than you would probably imagine. A whole list of rules and regulations have to be followed while driving a few thousand tons of steel down the tracks.

I'd rather do that than MS flight simulator. Asides from take off and landing what happens in that which is remotely interesting?

Train Simulator lets you simulate looking into poor peoples' back yards.

I like Train Simulator enough. I guy I worked with did a lot of coding for the scenarios, so I felt compelled to buy it, as he didn't feel compelled to snag me a free copy. That's fine, I don't mind at all paying for software. If you even remotely find trains interesting, then you would like Train Simulator, although it might not be a bad idea to hold out for TS II.

I only really abandoned Hidden and Dangerous 2 and Rome Total War for Silent Hunter 3. I'm planning to look very closely at the new Rome Total War Expansion and Imperial Glory - I think Silent Hunter may be hard pressed to keep my attention once these come out - I can see myself shelving the game for a few months whilst I wait for a proper patch, unfortunately.

Rome Total War , and CFS3

I've completed 58 patols , in 3 careers , and i'm not bored yet ,
Rome Total War is the dog's proverbials for it's genre
CFS 3 is getting good , thanks to a lot of folk's ,too many to mention , but they know who they are ,
But for sheer playability , straight from the box SH3 get's my vote ,

After building this new box I am now just playing SH3. I have Call of Duty on it...Doom3 for my son when he is here....and need to re-load the IL2/FB/PF series. But since loading Silent Hunter3 I just don't feel the urge to go back to flying in PF/FB until the upgrade comes out. I still contribute to the TX-Squadrons' OC3 server but don't feel like flying along at 500kts in my trusty FW-190 when I can silently sneak up on a convoy making a blistering speed of 2kts! With the mods that some in the community have come out with this is the closest to the real thing that any of us could ask for. Sure wish Oleg would give us a little more latitude with Pacific Fighters/Forgotten Battles as I think the interest would really increase there. Maybe someone could talk Juri over at HyperLobby into letting us sink ships over there!!!

Taking a short break from World War II Online.
I'd list this game as " Fire it up when you need time off"

Like: HOI, SWG, RTW; etc.

WTF is Brothers in Arms, anyway?

And the entire BF series can DIAF, in my opinion. Bunny game.

I don't put as much time on Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin since getting SHIII. (Only keep about 4 PBEM games going where I used to have 10 or so). CMBB has been on my hard drive for years and I still love it. The mark of a truely great game. I think SHIII has that kind of potential. We shall see with patches / mods / expansion packs. Oh ya, I hook up with my NASCAR Racing 2003 league once a week for some door to door. Winter is gaming season so, I will likely be spending less time with everything now that summer is around the bend.

So far, the hunt in SHIII remains challenging and as long as that's the case, I expect it to stay on the HD.

I forgot....

I was going to comment on the MS Train SIM thing. I'm a train nut (kind of a wierd concept, I know) and so can easily see playing a train sim. (I dabbled with Trainz 2004). I found, however, that I get my "train fix" by building my HO scale railroad and so therefore, spend my PC Gaming time with other interests.

....be careful about slamming "train guys". I have never known a more passionate group. It seems odd to say that.....very odd. Go to a train show some time and fiddle with some guy's display, maybe that would help get my point across. I know if some guy walked up and started pointing out flaws (that I already know exist), and handling my "equipment" (without permission of course)on my railroad, he'd get an earful while being turfed off my property. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

....I'm getting off topic here. Where was I ?

Oh ya.....trains are cool too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I got bored with the lack of substance in IL2+AEP+PF full mission builder, so I started looking at other games...
So far I have wasted $$$ on several games:
1) Call of Duty..original U United Offensive...I like it & will get back to it later.
2) Battlefield 1942....bad single player game...I don't do online gaming...
3) Starwars Battlefront...totally ...a waste of $$$
4) Medal of Honor Pacific...I don't like this one either...
5) Brothers in Arms...It was fun for 10 days...I'll most likely never load it again.
6) Silent hunter 3...I am still learning this game but doubt if I'll go to far because it is to much time wasted just doing nothing. It is kinda like long patrols in IL2 which I don't have time to waste on them either. I want to be there...play the game...have fun...turn off the computer & go do something worthwhile...

I did one single player SH3 & was able to sneek in & sink a battleship & actually get away...end of game...it was fun...turn off the computer till tomorrow or the next day...

Seriously, though why give up any games for SHIII. I mean regardless how good any game is, and SHIII is a good game indeed, I personally rather enjoy a mixed diet of -

Silent Hunter III (still in the honeymoon stage)
Rome: Total War (upcoming addon http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif )
IL-2 FB/AEP/Pacific (offline campaign plus a little online with squad)
Call of Duty:UO & German Mod
plus a little BF1942 (Realism Mod online).

-----

Looking forward to Imperial Glory, Battle of Britain, BF2, and late in the year Age of Empires III. I always wait for gamer's reviews however before buying anything, especially nowadays with all the bugs and whatnot.

Train sim is quite funny if you're a trains freak.
You control the loc and you drive from station to station loading people or cargo.
Much like SH III but then with trains

Once I got SH3, I was finally able to remove Epix's "Sub Battle" from my machine. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

How in the WORLD is Train Sim anything like SHIII ? I've got them both, like Train Sim, Love SHIII but..I really do not see any similarities between hauling cargo on a digital transportation system and hunting shipping...on a digital U-boat system.

.....I mean...WTF http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Well, I haven't played anything else at all since buying SH3. But the saddest thing is that I bought 'Stronghold 2' last week, and I've been so busy playing SH3 that I haven't even opened Stronghold 2's box yet.

Other games I used to play a lot are:

Rome: Total War
Star Wars: Battlefront
Knights of the Old Republic II
The Last Express
Chessmaster 10
Full Spectrum Warrior

What Train Sim do you play? I've had RailRoad Tycoon 3 for a long time and finally gave up because I couldn't figure out how to haul stuff. I mean, I did have cars hauling goods and people, but didn't know how to manage it. When I tried to manage it, I couldn't tell if I was doing good or not.

No Homeworld 2 and Cataclysm are two different games Homeworld 2 is the latest game in the genre and this is in my opinion a great game. If you liked Homeworld and Cataclysm then Homeworld 2 is a must buy for you m8 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Redich, I did love Homeworld. Cataclysm didn't add much for me.

How does Homeworld 2 compare to them?

I do not know about Homeworld but I liked Cataclysm. Homeworld 2 has all the same and in my opinion a really god storyline. Normally I don't like storylines mush but this was okay http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
