Something went wrong with my game. Every time I clicked "careers" within the main menu the game would crash.

I think the problem was within the save game file. I think my computer may have corrupted a save file or something and every time it tries to load, it crashes. Oh well. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I was bummed at first, but I'm starting off as U-589, 1st flotilla, 1942, which is almost where I left off. Now I just have to sink some major tonnage to get all the fun gizmos back on the sub.

It's not such a bad thing, though. The game was getting a bit easy for me anyway. Now that I have a new crew nothing seems to work as smoothly, heheh.

On a good note, the game runs MUCH better after reinstalling. I guess I'll have to change my sig to U-589 info.

i am nearly up to that point in my career, do you think it may be because of the large amount of saves causing problems, i'm at patrol 20 and have loads of saved games, but then if you try and delete you get that bs about "if you delete that save, all the saves after it will also be deleted" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Thats just rubbish, wouldn't mind streamlining the number of saves i got.

Hope not http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif. I am only on nr 6 patrol an alredy have 150 save games... Enyway are you surten about the if you delete that save, alle the saves after it vill also be deletad? I think I used to deleta old save games before, whitout it destroying my newest save games. But if you LOAD a save game, it whil destroy newer save games, are you mixing the two?

Can you load the second to last save?

I am not sure where it crashes, just in case it is before you select the last save, you can save the career by manual deleting the last save in you my docs folder.

Backup your career and try to load from base.
It may solve the problem

A word of warning, if you try to delete earlier saves certainly in game, then you will have lost all of your progress from that point on, just to make this clear, I am now on patrol 24ish, in late 1942, if I went back and deleted any of my in patrol saves from say patrol 7, in early 1940 I would have lost Everything after that date.

If anyone is brave enough to try it manually outside the game and it works for them please let me know as I would be interested.

You have been warned

I thought i was right, this really is a silly matter and i too would like to know if it is possible to remove earlier saves without losing all your current progress

I did have over a hundred saves in the patrol--I hope that's not the reason it died.

The thing that doesn't make sense is that the game crashed when I click on "career" within the main menu. I can't even access the list of my saved games so I can't choose a previous save.

Oh well. In hind sight, it probably wasn't a good idea to play SH3 during a lightning storm...

It's not that big of a problem, I guess. I play at 56% realism so having an awesome crew isn't vital. My old crew had medals up the ying yang, which was nice. Oh well.

I backed up the old files, but I don't think I'll try anything more because I just want to play. Plus, I like the sound of my new chief officer's voice. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The new crew member in my control room screams like girl whenever i hit or sink a ship, he's such a woman. i changed him over to a more experienced officer http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
