Hi all,

I have been reading most of the posts lately with great interest and I have a great interest in these people who claim to know how the aircraft modelled in IL-2 should perform. I have read things like "it is well documented" or "I have this book that says." etc etc etc.

Well I have only one thing to say to those people. Where is the proof you speak of?

From now on I would like to see people back up their claims of aircraft performance specs by listing the source with their claim. If it's a book tell us the title, author, publisher and ISB number, if it's a website then post the link, if you have actual charts from that era in your possession then scan them and post them for all to see.

Regards,
Codex

The only time i will ever beleive anyone on this forum about their opinion on a flight model is if they can provide hard evidence that they have flown in the said aircraft.

Most people directly quoting information do indeed give that information, and the people with the chart's do indeed scan and post them. Double check they are there all over the place.

I am just sick to death of people quoting performance specs with no nothing to backup their claim.

To my knowledge Oleg is an Aeronautical Engineer, so already that makes him more qualified than most to determine how these aircraft flew.

Now I am no pilot but I have flown in many military aircraft back in the early 90's and I know that performance specs do not match every aircraft in service. Slight variations on the aircraft's skin, different weights applied to the aircraft, the weather, the temperature, the grade of fuel etc etc etc all make an aircraft perform differently to what is written down on paper.

And even when an aircraft roles fresh of the production line no two will be "exactly" alike in performance.

That may be so but some of the FM problems are Waaaay off and you dont need to be a expert to see that.

Guess you haven't seen the scanned in documents that most Luftwaffer's use when asking about their fav. planes.

Exactly what I said a few times...how can it be "as real as possible" when FM's change with EVERY patch?

Which FM was then "more real"?

IMO, the original, out of the box IL2 had the BEST FM's.
All this "variations" we see in FB are a result of several issues like:
1. people complaining that this or that polane is/isn't correct. And since they are the customers, UBI is forcing (Iguess) Maddox to change the FM's to be more appealing to the public

2. bad sales in the USA, compared to the size of that market. That is why P51, P47, and B-17 are being introduced. To boost the sales in western countries (especially USA). Of course, I have NOTHING at all against new planes, the more the merrier.
And there was nothing I liked more in the EAW but to storm the vast B-17 formation with a FW/K4/262 and let it rip!

hmmmmmmmmmm the things you wrote are not out of line but personaly i dont think oleg would screw a fm for anybody..........i think that his requirements are very difficult and since we ( the people posting) do not have a clue as to the complexaty of re configuring a fm i think he does the best he can with the physic modeles he has, we do not know if he makes a small change and it changes things more than he anticipated, it ios my opinion that he tries as hard as he can ...........no i cant explane the great varionce in 109 fm.............yea i kinda likeda like il-2 original too
