Would be great to be able to designate regions as Colonies/Viceroyalties and establish different taxes on goods and citizens within specific regions. Would be great if you could draw boundaries and assign names to these regions similar to how you create new cities in City Skylines. Would be cool to be able to create a capital city which if captured could jeopardize your entire regions future. Maybe treasure ships could be forced to sail between regions and gold/money would need to be moved like any other good and all colonies feed their profits to the capital city. This would create a more realistic world where treasure ships need to be escorted and can be captured. In addition, it would be great to be able to assign a governor and or viceroy to your designated regions that come with pros/cons. Maybe a certain governor enhances industrial building productivity while another enhances a regions military efficacy.

I just want to say - Anno is not Cities Skylines.

I don't think Anno needs anything similar to the district system, as I don't feel like people would use zoning tools, especially on production islands that aren't going to have any inhabitants.

While I don't think a governor is something I would want either, something along similar lines - some hard-to-get items (or buildings) that produce global buffs for your ships or buildings (similar to the Historic Warehouse from Anno 1404), I think would be an interesting addition. There is a chance this has already been added with one of the exhibitions that can be set up at the end-game Exhibition Hall (or whatever it ends up being called) monument.

I agree. In both games you can build cities, but they are very different type of games.

Many people likes Anno, but not Cities Skylines, myself included and I don't want that it would turn to copy of Cities Skylines.

Good part is that those who likes Cities Skylines can still play it.

Not sure about the governors but it would appear that either ships can sail between regions or trade routes set up as in 2205. Trouble is, I can't see how it's done. But it seems to be part of the game.
