S!

So as the title says, I am looking for some tips or tactics to flying the MC205. Please do not come in here and make a smartass responce of "My tip is don't fly it!" because I've had enough of that in Hyperlobby (granted my fault as that is probably the last place you want to ask for help).

Anything would be appreciated, as far as I know right now is that it is slower than late game allied BnZers (like the P-51 and P-47) but can outurn them, and is a bit faster than some of the earlier spits but still looses in a turn fight.

Thanks for the help!

Mc205 is an awesome ride, especially the cannon version.

1. Laaaaarge ammosuply (275 rpg for cannons and some 450 or 500 rpg for Safats).
2. Impressive climb
3. Fair speed
4. Nice maneouverability
5. Formidable terminal dive speed - 1000kph TAS
6. Digital ammocounters

How to fly it? Mix it up with anything american, drag and bag the spits, toy with any russian apart from La7/Yak9U above 4 or 5k. Never go 1v1 vs late spit unless at an advantage/surprise (this however holds for any plane going on spit). Attack bombers carefully as an engine is very vulnerable to .50 cal hits.

I dont think I've tried it in 4.071 yet, but from what I remember it's a bit **** at high altitude, as I found when I chased someone (Mig 3 I think) up to 5 or 6,000m and found it was rather lacking in all areas of performance at that altitude.

I've heard the flight model has improved now though, so maybe someone who knows can give you a better idea.

The stall/spin tendency of the MC202/205 birds has definitely decreased which is good, previously they would not stall but instantly go into a severe flat spin which was hard to recover from.

Tigertalon already summed up all of its strong-points, it compares quite well to the Bf109G2 although it is slightly inferior in speed and climbrate, however the more potent armament makes up for that, one pass kills are quite easy with this bird and the ammo supply is generous.

One thing I've noticed with the Macchis is that the engine seems even more fragile than on the Bf109Gs (although in real life they had the same), one hit and its coming to a halt.

Thanks for the reply's

Definatley sounds like a fun plane to fly, and like all, can be great if flown correctly. Again thanks for the tips, will try to put them to good use.

The thing you need the most: even more speed ?

Albeit I agree, in hands of a capable pilot it can hold it's own against P-51 and P-47 (though I would still choose one of them if my life would depend on it).
