Yes, it should be a new discovery.

Some of my friends are planning to have an immersion there yet (in early summer I hope http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) if they'll know the coords.

We'll try to know anything about the codes on that airplane.

We think they did, at least they released the hood.

Salute

Too shallow water and too much light down there for this aircraft to be salvageable.

Plant growth and corrosion will have destroyed too much.

There are thousands of unlocated aircraft wrecks on the floor of the English Channel, many ditches with the aircraft in pretty good shape, not as spectacular down there in the black for diving purposes, but the chances of recovery in good condition much higher. At great depths, there is very slow deterioration of metals and other material.

Hopefully with advances in technology we will see some of those aircraft coming to the surface to be rebuilt.

With the value of original 109's 190's and 110's being in the multi-million dollar range, you would think at some point someone is going to start to look.

One man's junk is another man's treasure... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I can't wait to see what they pull out of the depths of the Black Sea.

As I understand it, the waters of the Black Sea are excellent at preserving the wrecks. To the point many scientist think there just might be human remains intact from Before Christ.

I was just talking about this today as a matter of fact.
Just how much wartime stuff could be in there?

If there are human remains (in Australia at least)it would be classed as a "war grave" and it would be illegal to tamper with it any way.

I expect that there would be some kind of register that keeps track of crash sites like these. The people who found it should be checking with the authorities to see what statis it has.

Here in Italy it works in the same way.
