On my vacation in Tuscan (Italy), I took some pictures to compare the videogame Assassins Creed II with the reality. Enjoy!!!

Nice. Reality looks almost as good as AC2.

Yeah, but only almost! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

But really, Ubisoft Montreal did an incredible job!

And you aswell, Luca, great job finding the locations in both reality and the game! How'd you do it? Took som pictures first and then went to find them in the game? Must be fun, now that I think about it...

Yeh, the angle is almost dead on in some of the pictures. Really well done.

very VERY nice, luca. the effort in going back into the game to capture photos from the same angles. impressive.
i commented on your photos on facebook as well in places.

thanks for sharing.

i went to a trip around italy (tuscany, rome, the dolomites) in october and playing AC2 sure took me back http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif i dont have the energy to go through MY pictures and do the same although i could. i was at monteriggionni as well , which seems like u werent, HOWEVER that tiny town looks absolutly NOTHING like how it is in AC2 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
at least according to what i remember.

i was also at venice http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif oh my, the rialto bridge have changed http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You should've taken a 3rd-person picture from the top of a viewpoint. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

I took the "Reality" pictures first. But I keept on mind how it is in the game. I took specific pictures, than was pretty easy to find it in the game, back home. I also used photoshop to overlap the 2 pictures and turn them to get the best likeness.

yea, i saw your post on facebook, thanks.

Yes, I've been in Moteriggionni, and I sleept there one night. But yea, ubi took just the name. However, it's not the goal of the game to be like the reality. I expect that more on Splinter Cell eheheh http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

well they said the went to italy to the locations and did 10.000 photos. which became skins, so they just but the skins into the buildings. thats wyh the overlays looks mostly like the reality.

That was pretty awesome to look through http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I wonder how historically accurate it is? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Just gives you an idea of how much work they obviously put into it... I mean, even some of the marks on the brickwork is the same lol

very nice but do keep in mind that in AC2 timeline 95% of those buildings were Newish

Buildings and cities in AC are pretty dead on accurate as far as history goes.
It's the people that are fudged lol

And they could do with improving the texture work on the photos. They're not as realistic as the ones in the game.

More seriously though, excellent work!

I'd like to say that the building descriptions are 100% realistic. Of course some building doesn't exist in the reality. But the "add/deleted" building from the reality are less than the 20%. I mean important building (the one with a description in the game database). Talking about the rest of the city, well, Ubi changed almost everything. But it make sence to change it in order to have a better gameplay...

Historical event are pretty realistic.

In conclusion I was really impressed of how much work UBI put in... this game it's not just a game but a real historical and cultural experience. I learned more about Firenze playing ACII than on my regular school http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif : ) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This year I'm probably not going in Rome to make it, too far, and also to big http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

anyway, could be a great idea for ubisoft to make a contest for the best pictures taker reality vs videogame http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Does anybody go to Rome?
