After a week of trying to figure out why I could not get the app to sync with my computer consistently or even at all at times I have figured out the issue.

On your modem/router ensure UPNP is enabled.

On your adapters ensure IBSS is enabled and set to the mode your WIFI is broadcasted in. As an example my wireless adapter was set to A/B/G but my WIFI was set to N.

I had to switch to A/B/G/N mode.

For convenience set your wakeup mode on your adapter to All instead of Magic Packet to ensure you never have the issue of having to restart your computer to resync.
