View Full Version : clean 109 pits?

I was flying my G-6 around France, blowing up any farmhouses and windmills I saw (ya gotta let those farmers know who's boss).

I looked out the side of the plane and realized that all the yellow stuff that used to cover the sides of the cockpit glass were gone.

Maybe they fixed this in a patch and I just never noticed it. Does anyone know when exactly they cleaned up the 109's pit?

Do you have the beta or something? There is no patch for AEP yet.

They did clean some of them up for 2.0. Would be nice if they got the ones they missed though. And there still seems to be just enough smear left to make them a touch worse than the soviet planes.

I've just got AEP 2.0 and the back glass is virtually clear. Its about the same level of clear as the P-51 or the Spitfire.

Well, I know the glass in my 109 is a lot cleaner after I suggested to my crew chief that we were in need of latrine-scrubbers at the front... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

2.0, now only if they would fix the super large oilsplash on the mustang that covers the gunsite and both side windows completely, with the 109 at least you can still fight with an oilsplash and aim, fix the 190 front glass cockpitbar and the 190 a4-a8s and p47s gunsite breaking of from one hit anywhere to the plane.

oleg must have seen a 190 that had a f8 canopy welded to it, the f8 had thicker armored glass in the front then the early versions. I think the bar is just there because it covers up a clipping problem with front of the engine when the fisheye lens looks left and right it problems shows inside of the front of the engine. And he is too stuborn to fix it.

I dont know why the mustang has a dark tint to the canopy either, they dont in reality some of the new airshow flyables do but they are customly made. while the grim looks like a good effect it should be on all aircraft with the same opacity or not on any aircraft in the game. I noticed the he111 in 2.0 has some strange looking bubble wrap looking effect on the glass now, it never use to be there

How come in pictures of cockpits of planes in museums etc, the artificial horizon is allways showing some crazy attitude?
Are they gyro-stabalised and dont have gyros in them anymore or what?
That 190 above is in a 45 degree right hand bank with about 30 or so degrees nose down according to it's artificial horizon....all while having all three wheels on the ground!

I think when you start up the plane you have to set the horizon using adjustment knobs so it reads correctly.. And constantly adjust any gyro powered devices for drift as you fly... You can also cage them so they don't get damaged during hard manouvers, and then you have to adjust them again when they are uncaged.

When the plane is powered off the gyros don't spin and they can read pretty much anything.

Atleast, thats what I remember from my days in a private plane, but that was years ago and I was just a kid...

I remember thinking that the sound of gyros spinning up in a plane when the master switch was turned on was one of the coolest sounds and would **** myself if it ever appeared in a game.

That and the sound of the aircraft beacon over the intercom...

Btw: A gyro is basically a sort of spinning top toy attached to the inside of a cage. The gyro is spun up inside the cage using a motor and once spinning it resists changes in movement. When the airplane banks for example the gyro want to stay level, and the gauge attached to it reflects this by staying in one spot while the airplane moves around it.

I think howstuffworks.com has something about gyros in it...

Speaking of sounds, getting the s/c whine when cutting throttle on the 109s back from the original IL2 would be nice.

As would hearing the waste gate blow off on the Jug when cutting throttle. (though I'm not sure if it was something the pilot could hear IRL. I just hear them every day on the street. Over almost any noise. Both spooling and blowing off.)
