The team that made the Pacifique Campaign have made a French speech-pack. (Actually it was uploaded in July 2003, but I'd not heard of it until now.)
I flew with it last night and I have to say it's excellent!
I was lucky in that Gaston sent me a CD packed full of FB additions which he and his team have been working on (secret http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) but you can get it at http://www.checksix-fr.com

OK so the site is in french but I found it easiliy enough.

translation http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I Installation This whole of files is intended to take seat in a sub-directory whose way will be (starting from the file of installation of "Forgotten Battles") SAMPLES/SPEECH/FR. The procedure of installation is thus the following one: 1. To create a repertory FR in under-file SAMPLES/SPEECH (it will take seat beside the repertories OF, FI, HU, RU and US) 2. Décompresser archival files in this new file (it will have to be taken care that the option "to preserve the ways" of your software of decompression is activated) You would have, at this stage, to have a certain number of under-files created in the file FR: Actor1, Actor2..., Actor9. These files containing, themselves, of many files. II "normal" use of these files This whole of voice is intended to introduce French voices into Il2 "Forgotten Battles". In fact, it is conceived with the idea to give the voice of the pilots of the group of hunting Normandy (which will become Normandy-Niemen later). Thus, the codes are "Rayack", and the messages begin by "Hello", because they are the terms used, at the time, by these pilots. Moreover, we have voices for the pilots of bombers. For those we used the Brittany code. Indeed, it is the group of bombardment which was préssenti to join Normandy in the USSR. Nevertheless, this group was not finally sent in Russia. To hear these "French" voices, it is necessary that the mission that you carry out comprises "French" pilots. Thus, in the editor of mission, it is necessary to allot French nationality to certain groups of flight. It is the case if you to allot the Normandy-Niemen flotilla to these groups. Moreover, in this case, the dialogues between the tower and the pilots French will be, them also, in French. What is perfectly historical besides! III Possible use of these files It is possible to replace all the voices of the play by the voices of this additive. It is enough, for that, to replace all the files of all the repertories of file SAMPLES/SPEECH. Thus, if one wishes that the German units use these files, rather than the German voices, it are enough to place our files in the file OF. Of course, one will lose there in realism. Nevertheless, one will be able, thus, to do without the texts of translation which encumber the screen. IV Notes of the originators The voices used in this work are equipped with various accents. We used several people so that one has a broad range of the French accents. We also modified the structure of the messages. Thus, certain messages are "empty". Whereas the elements which they provided are built-in in the other messages. We think of having, thus, to give more punch to the unit. Certain messages are a little different from those basic, for better sticking to the situation than they describe and to give a better realism. Thus certain messages do not correnspondent at 100% with their translation. Nevertheless, they stick perfectly to their use. As one said, the messages take again the historical codes of Normandy. One could, with a more flexible structure for this unit of files, to carry out a greater differentiation between the patrols and the escadrilles. We were obliged to restrict us a little... We did not use the "numerical" codes of the VVS (Soviet forces arérienne), although they were largely described in the radio operator conversations of Normandy. V Participants in the design of this unit Actors Richard "PB0_Roll" Campans (Actor 1) Thierry "prov." Proville (Actors 2 and 3) Denis "PB0_CEF" (actor 4)"PB0_Fanch" (actor 5) François "Fortbe" Ortmanns (actor 6) David "NN_David" Boucart (actor 7) Philippe "NN_Tym" Aubé (actor 8) P

As long as you make the files avaialbe for all. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
I haven't tried to compress it yet to see how big the file is. I guess it'll bne too big for me to e:mail though. If I could ftp it to you perhaps...or possibly upload to somewhere like netwings.

I'm wanting to include a campaign too (me and Poymando are working together again) also to include the Japanese medals and awards which Gaston and the guys have made. They are amazing!
I can't really distribute those files until they're available to download from the authors though.
I'm sworn to keep them until such time... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

"The best fighters I met in combat were the American P-51 Mustang and Russian Yak-9U. Both of those types obviously exceeded all Bf109 variants in performance, including the 'K'. The Mustang was unmatched in altitude performance, while the Yak-9U was champion in rate of climb and maneuverability."

I'd like to get my hands on the British speech pack without downloading the entire British campaign. Where can I find it?

Extreme_One: Is the speech pack even available on it's own?

Is there another site where I can download the French speech pack? The check-six site is slooooooowwwww.

P.S. Am reading Pierre Closterman's The Big Show and thought this would be appropriate. Maybe when the Spit V arrives I can fly Free-French.

Never mind, I got it. And it's great. Now does anyone have any great resources about the Normandy-Nieman(sp?) group?
