Is it just me? I constantly get this page...

I wonder if these new boards are based on open-source software,i.e, PHP. If so we can expect this kinda problems from now on. ASP may not be the best, but it beats heck outta freeware software.

They do have a hick-up from time to time, but its nothing like the old set up IMHO.

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Gunther Rall

PHP is far superior to asp. I have coded in both.

Trust me, if this board was phpBB, it would work properly.

You've sure got a way with words...

You're nuts http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think you should qualify yourself, first as a psychologist and second as per your web development certifications...

Frankly, I've worked with ASP and PHP and the Open-Source was cheaper, but plagued with problems. Problems because the developers providing Open-Source anything are a bunch of elites that are doing you a "BIG FAVOR" just putting up Open-Source. You need to be properly grateful for anything you get from them, and if you get any kind of documentation it's a miracle.

I've used IBP, VBB, PHBB and YABB boards and those are supposed to be great boards. I worked hundreds of times on sites with those boards, and when the board developers finally got the things half way workable they started charging for the software. All the Open-Source was to just de-bug their stuff. Bunch of hypocrits using PHP Open-Source and then charging for their boards.

ASP is competent, but you've gotta have good servers...that's the big secret.

Course, I can't help you on the NUTS part that's a little subjective, eh....LOL

THese boards still stink, but are OK sometimes.

So they are better?

open source is the way to go, what ever they use here is pretty unreliable i can never post half the time cos the login page is ither down or they are very slow. Atleast they are using apache and not IIS.

I agree that this board is no better than the last.

On development: my name is in the credits of several open-source apps. I code in php for a living (3rd largest cable-ISP, thank you very much). I also run my own ISP based entirely on open source software.

On phsychology: I'm crazy. If the old saying is correct ("it takes one to know one"), I'm overqualified in this case. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Enuf technical mumbo jumbo.

All I know about forums is that the ones at Simhq, IL-2 Center, Ezboard, Yahoo.com, Microsoft.com and Hot Asians Monthly don't have any problems.

Why do all other forums on the face of the internet work, but UBI forums are broke regardless of what PHP, UBB or BBQ they use?

I don't know. You tell me.

Total Incompetence of UBI staff.... In terms of FB, they lucked out signing up Oleg and Maddox1c !! Over the 2+ years of using IL2 and IL2:FB, I've repeatedly seen (and SOMEtimes commented upon) the TOTAL incompetence of UBI on MANY related matters, from this Forum/Baord to inadequate marketing of IL2 and IL2:FB....it's obvious across the board of UBI operations...but they are the Only game in town, unfortunately for Oleg. Down the road, when his contract expires, my money says he'll find himself a Competent publisher....and make a LOT more money by doing so...

Try SimHQ IL2:FB forums.

These boards are problematic...LOL

Quick reply doesn't work most of the time, and replies require re-entering login info.

I'm seriously thinking of just going over to the SimHQ boards. I'll just set up a link in favorites to look in on the IL2-Sturmovik home page to look for updates occassionally.

Really funny...Infopop is the same board provider for Ubi and SimHQ. There must be a heck of a difference in the servers.

I'm completely sick of writing posts and then to be told that there is an internal server error when I try to post.

Really UBI what was the point of rebuilding these boards? They look nicer but performance wise its worse as you can't go back and retrieve what you've done if you get that effing message.
