OK, love FB, play it allot.
And I am sure hopeful that PB will update the battle fx. Not that the twirling cottonball fire smoke effect was bad, but I am hopeing to see some improvements in PB FX like WWII guncamera footage so often showed.

Things like the wall of individual flamesets from hit fuel tanks, Lots of dropping burning material, spark blasts etc...MS Combat flight Sim3's didn't look so bad (not that it would run on most people's PC's) .

I also like the different colored smoke for differing damage such as radiator fluid green, hydraulic, oil etc...

What an improvement also would be to mimic the vibrated look of the tracers from old footage that made the tracers look all wiggly-squiggly. A cool feature might also be a toggle to allow the player to switch to play in black and white mode to better intensify the nostalgic feel of the footage we are all so used to!

Even if the FX for PB remain un-updated, I am sure it will blow the pants off of anything so far. Can't wait to play it. Thanks for something to look forward to from the Lomac letdown.

I like your suggestions. I've always wanted to see the fuel tanks explode but maybe not blow the plane up completley. Just have all the fuel explode like you see it do in some gun cam footage. As for the Shaking Tracers, that was just an effect cause by the vibration of the plane shaking the camera, because of the guns firing and the engine, so the tracers we have now are realisitc. Now if they included a Gun Cam way to record tracks, that would be awesome.
Something that just recorded when you fired, then in black and white, or color it would record your guncame footage, then that could use the shakey tracers
I think that would be cool

Yeah, a future sim would be way cool if it had a real guncam feature built in---with the POV of the guncam in the proper place (wingroot, whatever it might be). They'd be B&W, and would have vibrations, etc added in randomly, plus firing tabs, etc, just like the real thing. THAT would be cool.

Mike, sorry, but you don't speak for me.

OOOPS! The reason you see wiggly squiggly is because the camera was right next to the guns, and the guns are vibrating the camera. You would not really see wiggley tracers in real life, unless your head was mounted to the wing, which would make it much more difficult to fly!~!
NOTE:I have ADDED some "wiggley" to my CFS2 by giving the muzzleflash some kickback/vibration. It makes it harder to shoot planes down. That Along with NULL ZONES and Im not the great shot I used to be~! IE: Way more realistic~ IE : Lucky if I can down a Zeke!

So what you want is KICKBACK from the guns~~~~ http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I'm with Chuck, eye candy is just more strain on our computers.

I'm sorry, but I can't understand this...

So you're saying that you would still play a game with graphics like CFS1 but with just a huge amount of flyables and maps and things like that?? Instead of a wonderful, imersive game with lots of little special effects that everytime you pick up and play you spot something different and spend an hour drooling over it and congratulating the Devs for spending the time to put in??

Whatever floats your boat http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Why not just edit your initial post?

I wouldn't join any club that would have ME as a member!

No, I didn't say that. I said I want content before eye candy.

Your interpretation of that is that I want Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer graphics. But that's not what I said at all.

I have to say that I like the idea of different colour vapour for different damage. Green fluid, white fuel, blue engine oil smoke (obviously all pale colours not bright green or blue), this would let me know if the engines coolant had been damaged, because then I'd know I could hang back and wait for the engine to sieze on the enemy. I think this feature could add depth to an already fantastic sim.

It would be even cooler if the arrestor hook caused sparks when it hit the deck.

I think gun camera footage is a great idea. We can turn it on or off for the mission and it only records when you pull the trigger and about 5 seconds after you let it go. man that would be insane. it can be in black and white as well or color. how awesome that idea would be!
