I'm sure some have seen this news, but I haven't seen it brought up here...

I first saw a headline on Drudge, but the link was dead. I did a google news search and found this.

Could be some nice historical stuff~!

They didn't find them yet, right?

So the title of this post is false.

Well excuse me Mr. Headline journalist. I was just excited about the possibilities. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Articles says Nazi documents say that everything all the way down to fighter planes were kept at the facility.

Ready to fly Dora, or G series? Not to mention a JU-88 or an HE. What do you think that would be worth?

Hi folks,

ahh, Schoenefeld... brings back memories. Great little airport, and it's growing big time.

I don't know about any Luftwaffe relics there, but the customs guys looked like they were Kriegsmarine drop-outs, or extras from the film "Das Boot". German uniforms really haven't changed all that much!

I remember them looking at us all coming off the aircraft and lining up, and the first guy went from being bored to excited, calling over his equally bored colleague. I asked in my best high-school German if there was anything wrong, and they both smiled broadly and said they'd never seen an Australian passport before. I smiled back much relieved and went on my way.

Schoenefeld was the airport of East Berlin, and has only over the last few years been used for tourist travel from "the West". If you've played the old German fighter campaign from IL-2, you've been there. As best as I can tell, the airfield that is your final base in Berlin is Schoenefeld.

cheers,
Tony
