F-15C is now uber... net code seems to be a lot more stable, and they introduced a lovely nooby score system for online play http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif

Agree...too many problems...It was in development for so looooong.

Hehehehe i've not installed LOMAC with my new PC (A friend of mine borrowed it). It was playable though on GeForce 2Mx 32Mb 256RAM SDRAM 1GHz PIII, if only there was no blue screen bug.

I actually Quite Enjoyed LOMAC.

Sure it was far from perfect but ya just look at it's good points...

Great Graphics,
Great Sound effects (Sonic Boom)

The Dogfighting AI is awesome, Don't stay still for a second!

Tankbusting in either the Frogfoot or A-10 is pretty well done.

A good selection of RUSSAIN combat jets, which is something that i enjoyed seeing.

Sure, it had quite afew bad points too. but I think it will get better with time and Patches, Like every other sim out there.

Would it run on a Athlon XP +2200, 512mb ram and a Radeon 9200?

I've been thinking about purchasing LOMAC..

if they add the f16 f18 mirage harrier and a few more aicraft of different nations I might buy it and keep it instead of returning it.

LOMAC needs a very fast CPU more then anything else. It is the number of seable objects that mae it go with such a bad framerate (visibility distance seting). I think a CPU some 3x the processing power of the fastest CPU today would be required to play it on max graphics setting and most importantly... max visibility distance of ground objects (cities etc).

One thing that amases me is that the 9700pro I have curently (and P4 3GHz) is fairly enough to run it at default HIGH setings and 2xFSAA & 16xAF (get about 20fps on ground in airbase) but if I enable the MAX distance.. it kills it (get something like 5-10fps on ground in airbase)

Don't count on more aircraft, it's not a prop sim. With all the effort that goes into an Aircraft in FB, 10x more is put into one of those Jets. An Su-39 is being considered however. Lomac's choppy on my machine, but I love it.

Oh, there are no fighter pilots down in hell...
Oh, there are no fighter pilots down in hell...
The whole damn place is full of queers, navigators, and bombadiers...

are you kidding me? less polygones, no propellars, square intakes, and the cockpits are mostly digital, its more gauges but noway 10 times the work, much less look at the bf110 for example.

I owned the game and within 30 minutes of playing i was pulling off moves in the su 27 that were just so lame, whiping the nose direct 6 firing 3 missles killing 3 f15s on my tail. Lomac felt like flying wing commander in space

Back then the f15 didnt have its before visual range targeting.
Still it was easy as any other flight sim

5 planes is not enough to make a sim have a long playlife, especially a jet sim with small square maps.

f15
a10
mig29
su25
su27

different varients doesnt count as an additional plane to me. Thats why it failed bigtime, and how it runs on higher end machines and certainly not the so call "steep learning curve" excuse which is why they think it did bad. I found it much easier to learn then falcon 3.0 4.0 longbow and a few other chopper sims and other jet sims.

i may pick it up again, its 5 bucks on ebay lots of copies. i have not tried the new patches out but heard they fixed some issues. also theres never more then 30 people online, one weekend i seen 42.

cfs2 -3 even has more then that

It will pretty much run on any average to high machine, just as long as you keep in mind it's particle system is what kills the most. That means no weather, no clouds, no smoke, etc. It *can* be fun, but the amount of thrill you get out of it depends on how much you like jet combat. Personally, air to air combat is vastly more difficult than in FB, as once you engage, you're forced to go through lest ye get a missile up thy a$$. Flying the A-10 and Su-25 are also rewarding as well, as flying low and performing pop-up attacks on enemy SAMs and AAA can be a challenge and fun. However, the game is still a ATA combat game, and ground attack can be a bit awkward sometimes because of this.

Leadspitter - yes, it's true that LOMAC jets have more polies than FB does. Take, for instance, all the curved and rounded appearances required for these modern jets; that will put it at least 1k larger than those in FB. And prop blades don't add *that* many polies to a model. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

But, like I said, it depends on how much you enjoy the game. I thought it was good, but it's not addictive like EECVH is. But if you've got the itch for modern jet combat, LOMAC is the one to get.

A lot of the problems with adding more aircraft to FB comes from lack of reference, statistical studies, flight manuals and cockpit details. Those modern jets have more literature about each single one of them than probably a good part of all FB aircraft put together, plus there are more people around who are available for questioning as to how they handle. There's no excuse at making a grand total of 5 jet aircraft playable in a game like that...

Although, perhaps we're all just hopelessly spoiled by FB? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif After all, many sims focus on just ONE plane...
