Well it's a problem I sort of love to have. I'm a sucker for eye candy. I have an MSI Ti4200 with 128MB RAM. It's pretty good, I've gotten along with it for a while. But I'm insatiable, and I want to be able to never have to worry about frame rates (unless I push my CPU too far) and maybe even fly with perfect from time to time. Plus it never hurts with other sims.

For several months I've had my eye on getting a 9600XT. There don't seem to be many 9500s around these parts for good prices. Actually I've been waiting for prices to fall, I thought they would during Jan/Feb. Oh well. I can get an HIS 9600XT 600/400MHz with 256MB TV-Out (so what) and DVI (me like!) for 284.9 CHF: that's currently about 226 USD, 121 GBP, or 180 EUR.

I'm not willing to pay much more for a card, can anyone give me some insight on what might give this card a run for the money, or why I might wait for the next great breakthrough?

Much obliged,
Mike

Closest competitor would be an nVidia 5700Ultra.

Asus do a good one http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

However the 9600XT is better image quality, in my mind, and you get a voucher for Half Life 2 to boot!
