I always wanted to know what it was like to fly an X-15.

I thought it was a little much seeing stars RIGHT NEXT to the SUN at 5000 meters and at 12 noon - LOL.:-)

Salute

I agree. The "high", (if 6,000 metres can be considered high) altitude sky is much too dark.

Anyone who has flown a commercial jetliner at 30,000 ft knows this.

The very dark overhead sky should not begin to occur until the atmosphere gets very thin, at around 50,000 ft.

Forgive my earlier intended pun. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

The low altitude sky could be variable blue~ness, changing blue on different days, especially in winter.

At high altitude, you can't see blue icons...er...for those um that use icons, I mean not that I do no no of course not.

The dark high altitude sky wipes out view through the more dark tinted gunsight glass (yet another tinted gunsight thread). Especially Yak9U, for those who take Yak9U to high altitude that is.

But the FB contrails among the *best* things about FB and dozens of them don't hurt frame~rate. Thanks! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Since Oleg is gone, I'll speak on this issue for him. "Stars at noon are realistic be sure. We have many sources that confirm this. But we do not have permission to name those sources."
