Been lurking around here for a couple of months.
Thought it was about time to post.
Most of my questions have been answered by other post so just saying Hi.
Someday soon I will start to fly online but still not quite confident enough or maybe my ego isn't ready to be deflated.
One ? about skins tho. In the QMB the default markings stay on and the new skin markings apply over the top. Looks kind of stupid with two stars overlapping each other. What am I doing wrong?
Can't wait to get out of work and pick up AeP. I called EB in Milwaukee and they are holding a copy for me.

Hello there, Malik_VII. Your friendly topic has likely been overlooked because of the present deluge of AEP topics, so I thought I would take the time to say hello to you.

As for your question regarding the default markings, there is a switch on the aircraft customization page that will toggle the display of default markings. I don't have FB on the computer I am posting from, so I can't tell you exactly how it is labeled, but it is the only switch on the aircraft customiztion screen.

Welcome, Malik_VII. Tell us how you found this sim, and what you like/don't like about it.

I was aware of IL-2 from magazines I think. I had the demo and didn't like it too much. I don't no what the map was but it was overcast and I couldn't see a thing. I found this frustrating at the time. Meantime I kept looking at CFS and wishing I had a PC that could handle it.
A friend of mine had IL-2 and I borrowed it to find out I couldn't take off very well and still had a bad impression of the game. I mean they take off no problem in the movies.LOL
I kept hearing good stuff about this series but didn't have the time or flight stick to learn it. Then the X-45 came down to $80 and I bought that and found Adlabs config for it.Then after playing IL-2 for a couple of weeks I thought WTH FB is only $20 Why not.Plus I belong to a FPS forum that Olli72(SP?) belongs to and he keeps posting screen shots over there.
I've always wished I could fly one of these warbirds and this is the only way right now that I can. Anyway there's a lot more to the story than this but basically this is it.
I really can't say I don't like anything except...Why can't I land consistently. :-)

Hello Malik, which planes do you like to fly? I like LaGGs and 109s myself... but with the new expansion pack I'm going to be like a kid in a candy store... so many great new planes!

Been flying the P-38 lately but it's mostly anything with US markings.
I have flown the 109 and 190's and they are awesome planes but that siren when ya lower flaps on the 109 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif Even tried the HE-111 the other day. Have to work on the that not flying but dropping the bombload.
Better get to work now b4 the boss comes in.

Welcome aboard Malik.... I hope you dont need alot of sleep cause this thing is a sleep thief for sure.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

You have a good stick in the X45...thats half the battle there...having a good stick. The only thing I can tell you about lamding is practice. Thats one of the things I like about this sim.It is challenging... that helps keep some of the riff raff away...LOL.. You cant just hop in and become an ace in a day. It took me about a week before I could land consistantly so dont feel bad. Use your flaps and watch your airspeed and decent angle... not too steep or too fast. I use prop pitch to help me slow down and once I get on the ground I raise flaps for a second so that I will hug the grounf more... slowing me down more...then I lower them again to help me slow down.. all this is a feel kinf of thing and happens in seconds....

Come here often... there is a wealth of info here on these forums. Dont be intimiated by the FMB. Go to the Sturmovik Essentials thread stickied at the top of the board.... Good luck and have fun.

Welcome aboard Malik. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Where are you located? From your post I'm assuming somewhere in southeastern Wisconsin. I live 35 miles southwest of Milwaukee right now, but I grew up in Milwaukee. Glad to see another cheesehead on the boards. There are a few of us here from what I've gathered lately.

Kamp,
I'm in Waukesha. If you don't know where that is it's just west of Milwaukee.

Practice landing with big TB~3 bomber--it mostly lands by itself and its so smooth...and start out with Seperate Engine Management disabled. The IL~2 is also a sweet flyer and lander. Like TB~3 it is smooth even taking off and landing on plain flat ground.
