There is no auto function to the radiator anymore...when you take off I assume that it's default setting is closed (anyone confirm/disprove)

Manual control is required to keep from rapid overheat, though the plane still does take a long time to cool down. Best thing to do is on take off toggle it open to some extent...I go for 6, that seems to be pretty decent so far.

I dont use auto I use either open or close like ill be in open for a while.. throttle down to 95% then when I goto combat I close rad and goto like 105% or so but in the TA I get overheat like in 1 min sometimes less

this whole thing is making me upset.. I mean .. didnt the testers SEE this crap?

Might be a dumb question, but is your throttle percent when you activate MW50?

idle 0% ... I dont know whats going on.. I may dump this bird becuase nobody fights above 5000 anyway and if you DO find somebody there and you kill them they usually dont come back up .. I find the TA very disappointing in FB I am sure it was not like this in real life. it doesnt accelerate well..it seems to block off at around 400-450 then itll slowly reach up to speed but again hitting a block around 550 you gota trim nose down and go combat setttings to get more...even then it takes a while,, the climb while I know it wasnt a great climber by any means is wierd it wants to block off around 2500 meters then you gota push it level for a bit then climb again to like 4500 or 5000 then do it again so it doenst go below 230 or so.. makes for overall slow climbing.. maybe I need training in it. I am sure you wont tell me how to fly it because you dont want your secrets out so oh well nm bye

Why would you close the radiator for combat? That's when it gets hot.

what I mean is if I want to ctach somebody or accelerate off to zoom away not for overall combat.. i would fly the Dora but now that the Ki 84 C is here makes the La7 look like mcdonalds happy meal.. you cant survive that thing in a long drawn out combat situation with a good pilot so was hoping for the TA to be better with its 30 mm's can strike it in a few passes before he wears you down using accleration and some zoom climb but thats not going to happen heheh youll see people dropping the La7 and flying the Ki C model when the smoke clears.. so being a Luft pilot I gota find a way to battle that.. I may be going back to the trusted 109K at least I can escape upward http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If real air tactical air warfare were modded in the dogfight servers the FW would be the WAR winner. Yeah, for short range internet dogfighting stick to Fb109 and. That Tank dude should have known there would be internet.

I will not tell you which one at the moment.
Will point it in readme for add-on with new aircraft. There will be all fixes that will be reall found and confirmed for this and next week."

Sounds like he may be looking into it.

In another FW-what's wrong thread he spent a while checking an overheat claim. After 24 minutes at high power with no overheat, well.... I guess the man has some idea of how to use radiator flaps, power and pitch correctly.

Most people who would just love to drive real high performance sports cars would find themselves burning motors, lunching trannies and in general ruining them if they didn't wreck them on a turn first.

Same goes for this sim and the thoroghbred planes. One thing changed, the radiator is no longer automatic as it was in real. People run into a problem and do they check to find out or ask why? No, it's a bug proved! We are too good to be wrong!

If the D-9 overheats too fast, I hope he fixes the overheat times for the La-7 and La-5 aswell. The La-7 takes twice the time to overheat compared to the D-9(in a climb) and the La-5 doesn't overheat at all. Not even with closed rads.

Overheat(OH) times and engine damage(ED) time.

Rads closed

OH - 5:54
ED - 10:10

Rads on auto

OH - 2:40
ED - 7:45

When it comes to aircombat, I'd rather be lucky than good any day!

I've always wondered why the La-5's refuse to overheat. Is there a reason or is it something that was just never addressed? Pretty big advantage to say the least.

@ robban: I'm sure you remember the lines in "In combat with the Dora-9" where the pilot reports of having landed with a cooking (!) engine. The exhausts were bown down due to the high amount of engine-heat.

Additionally I have to say that I'm (not having AEP yet) a bit disappointet about the acceleration of the 190s (especially the As and F). All pilot reports tell that the 190 accelerated better than the 109 and had only a SLIGHTLY longer take-off run. Well...compare this to the "in-game facts"... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

Yeah Brems, I remember that one! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif I believe he had been running the engine on full power and MW50 for over 10 minutes.
