I just got a new headset and have been having a blast in Offline using "Shoot 1.6" to tell my wingmen what to do. It saved my life in one mission because I was able to shout "help me" and my flight zoomed in and took out a troublesome bandit.

However, I can't find anywhere online to use the headset.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Hux.

Wait, wait, so you mean you can say something in the mic, and your AI teamates will hear it?

What all would one require to do such a thing? That'd be an absolute blast to be able to do that...

No, I was baffled by his first sentence.. The whole talking to his teamates offline thing, and having them do what he said...

I assume he IS talking about AI teamates, right?

Anyway, ventrillo works wonders if you've got a squad or something to hook up with...

It's a hell of a time having a few friends on your team join up on a ventrillo server, and then coordinate attacks.

Yes, he is talking about AI. Using Shoot 1.x, you can program voice commands, that will activate keypresses. So you say, "Rejoin" into the mic, and the comms command for that will be issued. The AI then responds. I usee this in FS2004 to "talk" to the AI air traffic controllers also, and in the future in LOMAC for the same thing.

Shoot doesn't assist in speaking to human teammates online, though.

Shoot 1.6 IS awesome for talking to (sending commands to) AI wingmen, the tower and even for engine management and game functions (adjusting pitch, mixture, selecting individual engines, and especially for me, ...ejecting).

In theory, you COULD use it for talking to online players as well, but you would have to program it to send a chat message and then a keypress for each letter in the phrase that you were trying to use. For instance, you could program it to respond to the spoken phrase "help me" by pressing the chat key and then typing each letter of the phrase: "h" "e" "l" "p" "space" "m" "e". Although it could be done, Rodger Wilco or something similar would be MUCH more useful and a lot less hassle to set up.

If I were you Huxley, I would still use Shoot as-is for offline play and then use another voice comms program for actual live voice communication. Program a key on your joystick to activate the radio, and when you press it you can speak to humans or release it to resume normal Shoot functions. (thats how I have mine setup, anyway...)

Good luck, and have fun shootin' down the baddies!
