Be aware of new car-jacking scheme.

Imagine:

You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside.

Then you lock all your doors, start the engine and shift into REVERSE.

Habit!

You look into the rearview window to back out of your parking space and you notice a piece of paper, some sort of advertisement stuck to your rear window.

So, you shift into PARK, unlock your doors and jump out of your vehicle to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view...

When you reach the back of your car, that is when the car-jackers jump out of no where ...
jump into your car and take off --->your engine was running, your purse is in the car, and they practically mow you down as they speed off in your car. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gifops:

BE AWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME

Just drive away and remove the paper that is stuck to your window later and be thankful that you read this http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

I guess that an advantage to driving a crappy car is that nobody wants it. (including me)

actually.. apparently crappy cars are more stolen than fancy cars... but more fancy cars are retrieved when they're stolen.

stupid statistics.

mmm, whether true or not, nothing like the latest email running around. First posting I've found on the web was someones blog yesterday.

Possible, yah. But my BS detector says Snopes will have this one listed in a few months.

We'll see http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif -- Not that it isn't a good idea to just ignore things like that and drive your marry way because there are some pretty creepy people out there.

Hi Maz,

Sorry, I don't understand your meaning in this Reply, are you saying my Quote is "BS" [bull $hit] or are you talking about a Blog or E-Mail Virus ???

BTW Go Here: Are Car-Jackers Sticking Notes To Your Rear Window To Get You Out of the Car? (http://www.breakthechain.org/ss.html)

[QUOTE] (3/4/2004) E-mail chain-letters warning of 'new' criminal schemes to separate you from your belongings often read more like 'how-to' guides for thieves than a self-defense tip. This one is likely just another urban-legend type warning that took someone's imagining of a scheme that could work and crafted it as a warning about a scheme that supposedly is happening. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

KJ http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I'm saying exactly what you pointed out in the URL you just posted &lt;g&gt;. I'm not saying what you said is BS, saying that my BS detector rang loud and clear that it is probably someones hyperactive imagination. Possible, sure. Done? Maybe. New Thing? Probably not. Actual warning leading to this email being sent around? Probably not.

I love spam http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Hope no offense was taken.

Maz

PS: I said snopes would have it probably in a month or two. I was a bit slow on that. They had it this morning: http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/carjack.asp

It's not that it couldn't happen, but apparently it hasn't. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
