Gforce ti-4200 128mb card (AA & AS question)

I've noticed that I take a GARGANTUAN frame rate hit if I put Anti-Aliasing or Anisotropic Filtering on, so instead I just crank up the game resolution as a compromise. (Play one notch below 1600x1200x32)

Is this because of the Ti-4200 card or because of some kind of tweaking/settings stuff that I don't know how to use properly? (NOT a super-tech guy)

It`s the card. I have exactly the same card and it`s great, but only if you switched off AA and AF and as you`ve done bump up the resolution and gaining frames too.

To me, it`s a very small price to pay.
