I don't think so.

IIRC the Gladiator carried 4 of the same peashooters wich equiped the Hurricane Mk1.

Look at that muzzle flash and compare.

Man, I've just had a look at the Hurricane Mk1 and the muzzle flashes shown in the dev. update are a LOT different. Although not a poster, I've been with IL2 since the start + the possability of changing this constant niggle REALLY excites me.

I think it looks much more transparent in this picture. Is that what's new or is the picture taken as the muzzle flash fades away?

Well, guess we'll find out when we get our hands on the expansion http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

New planes - new flashes?

Could be. Nobody knows the code (they releace the Windows code, like that really helps us http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif )

I believe Oleg said before that flashes were coded as part of the models (either of the planes, or of the particular weapon, I can't remember). Nobody seems to have noticed, but the new Japanese planes in the 1.21 patch have reduced muzzle flashes also.

It looks like the bitmap itself is different...that may be it. But the size seems about the same...hard to say http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I take back what I said about the Japanese aircraft. The muzzle flashes are the same. I just forgot how big the Ki-84 was! Luckily, however, in both the Zero and Ki-84, the guns are located in positions that do not obscure the gunsight with muzzle flash.

I just know that that's exactly how it should look in the game.

I'd like to hope that's true and all...

but what you see from an external shot is a lot different that what you see clouding your gunsight view. It *could* be the exact same effect.

But, it would be a WELCOME little surprise.

Muzzle flashes have not been changed. They look that way sometimes when you take a screenie.

Sorry.

Gotta agree with Dash. Whan I was taking screenies for my sig, there were some that were like that, even for the Jug's .50cals. I used several different types of flashes when I compiled the .gif for it..........
