Can anyone tell me what the difference is between Open GL and Direct X? What are they, and is there a way to tell which you should use, or which one will work better for a particular setup? Or is it just an experimental thing...just try both and see?

Yes you are better of trying them both. It all depends on cpu and video card. Normally OpenGL is faster and better. But try it out ;-)

They are both Graphic API's(application program interface). Or more simply it's the environment that programmers use to get games to communicate w/ individual operating systems.

The difference is that OpenGL deals w/ just graphics while DirectX can interface w/ the sound, networking, and input.

FB is optimized for OGL so try that first and take a frame rate adv. Then switch to DX and try the same thing again and you should see which is better for you.
