I think we have all read Oleg's words about how busy he is with the development of PF. He even put off the inclusion of more aircraft for FB because of this.

There are more important things that the team should do instead of wasting time with a demo showing a single feature of an otherwise well-known product.

There was a demo for the first IL-2 because 1C:Maddox was an unknown company and nobody knew if they were able to make a decent flight sim. Nowadays everybody knows they are.

If somebody at UBI has enough time to compile a demo, go for it, but make sure you don't keep away 1C:Maddox from the work.

If the demo delays the game four months, do you still want a demo?

Unfortunately I have to agree http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/cry.gif

Cause you're a spoilsport. Devs can easliy make demos and a lot of the times they comeout before the game since they can just be onofficial slices of a beta game or just a slice of the official game. Either way demos hurt no cause.

This interview was on Nat'l Public Radio (npr) in mid January.
A female was interviewing Marine Corps General Reinwald
about a Boy Scout visit to his base.
She was told the Boy Scouts were to be taught about guns.
She asked, "But you are equiping them to be violent killers." The General replied,
"Well you're equiped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?"
The radio went silent and the interview ended. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

for all those who against whatever it is they would be against, just because or they think they have a valid point.

Would not a demo ( I assume ..READ THAT AGAIN.. assume, all it would take is a mission and a limited engine) give a good chance to actually test that engine on the many, many varied computer configurations out there ?
Thereby warranting any delay in release of the final product.

Would this also not prevent the obvious to come; "this or that don't work on my machine" calls that would be bound to come income in ?
Would it not also give flyers a chance to train in traps ?
Would it also not build the pre-release vibe, all essential to marketing ?

Spoilsport. So what's your sport? Trying to get the core feature of this sim and the product of other people's work for free?

Naming a person who wants to ensure timely completion of the product, so that everybody can play a FINISHED sim, a 'spoilsport' -- gee, if this ain't twisted logic...

Ubi wouldn't accept a postponement of the release. It has to be ready before Christmas because that's when people spend their money. Any delay will just reduce the amount of features that get included into the box.

Also I doubt that a carrier demo will help boost sales. For an average gamer it's simply too hard to land an aircraft on a carrier. It might rather discourage people from buying the sim. And those enthusiasts who are eagerly waiting for carrier landings will buy the product anyway. But then again I'm not an Ubi spokesman and it's up to them to decide and they will know what to do.

Well said plumps. I like your thinking. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

LOMAC Demo was so porked it made me Refuse to buy it until 6 months later when I was finally convinced that the Demo was just Porked. They should take it down or replace it with some patched pork.

- A limited version of the engine that couldn't be added into any missions or game version existing. -

"Naming a person who wants to ensure timely completion of the product, so that everybody can play a FINISHED sim, a 'spoilsport' -- gee, if this ain't twisted logic..."

-I don't agree with he SpoilSport (maybe the intention was tongue in cheek, maybe not) thing either,............ more impatient. "Hey you, don't do anything at all that could slow down the release".-

"Ubi wouldn't accept a postponement of the release. It has to be ready before Christmas because that's when people spend their money. Any delay will just reduce the amount of features that get included into the box."

-Beancounters will have it out in time for Christmas, regardless of what is or is not in the box.
(That is what porked CFS3)
Though should the release be delayed, I'm sure it would be for a very good reason indeed.-

"Also I doubt that a carrier demo will help boost sales. For an average gamer it's simply too hard to land an aircraft on a carrier. It might rather discourage people from buying the sim. -The average gamer can land on a ground strip already, yeah ? Landing on a carrier is not all that more difficult. The same as landing on a strip, without flameballing, all it takes is practise.
Ever stop to think that the drawcard of PF is The Pacific Theatre ?
(Will Australia and Niu Giunea maps be included ?)-

LOMAC is similar to CFS3 in that it runs fine on some configurations and not others

I want a demo just as much and probably more than most. Unlike you, I have the ability to look beyond my desires and face the reality, which in this case is; this sim is on a very tight time schedule and therefore I agree with the following:

"There are more important things that the team should do instead of wasting time with a demo showing a single feature of an otherwise well-known product."
