Er, I don't get this often but usually it is in the heat of battle and I don't know if it is a bug or a feature.

Sometimes the screen goes completely black, I can still hear machine gun fire and engine noise but that's it.

I know that the screen goes gradually black when blacking out, gradually red when reding out and tinted red when your injured. Normally when you have been shot and killed you still see everything but no controls work and you see a line saying you have been killed.

So is this a bug or have I blacked out completely? Perhaps there is a someone hiding behind me who has suddenly puts a blindfold on me when I am just starting to enjoy myself in the heat of combat just to wind me up...

Put it this way:

someone was behind you...
They don't need to be anymore...

You've been killed. It's a great feature, because it's realistic. Also, as you get wounded, the screen grows gradually redder. I love that effect. Also you'll notice that he more heavily wounded you are, the less you're able to manipulate the controls. It's an incredible feature of this game.

But yeah, you're dead. So mourn your loss, and hit refly. And pray because you did what the real pilots could not.

So what happened to this feature then? Was it ditched in AEP? It would have been nice for the manual to let me know... oh my god I can hear angels, there's a man in white with a long beard http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

Usually the screen goes black when you get killed. On occasion with different game settings, the screen won't go black. I don't know what settings this is, nor do I know why it makes a difference. You should still see the message Pilot:Killed on the screen when it goes black. If you are online you will get the message on the chat bar too.
