Hello there Mr.Maddox !

I hear you have Gibbage/Kevin Miller's mk.IX spitfire now.

I just wondered if you think you're going to manage to include it into the January addon with the mk.Vb

?

- Is it a possibility? Or did it come a little too late?

- Hope you're around for some kind of response.

- thanks /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Well look at that...I found a little Bump labelled Spitfire. I'll just put it right over here so it'll be sure to be seen.

Why not? It was the whole purpose of delaying the addon, right?

Add-on was delayed so that Spitfire Vb would be included. Spitfire IX is possible, but not guarunteed.

question about that mkIX, whats it like aiming with those .303s so far out on the wings? Seems like if you arent right at the convergence distance, aiming would be a b1tch.

I guess it wouldn't be too easy.. The RAF I know harmonised the spits guns to converge at 228 metres..

Closer than that and it gets tricky.

i dont really care about the 303s...they suck in FB, but the hispanos...they ROCK!!! ill just used the 303s for aiming purposes. the hispanos pack a mean punch, theyre probably the most powerful 20mm in the game. high muzzle velocity.
oh yeah and we will be getting the "E" wing armorment too. 2x 20mm 2x .50cal.
cant wait!

When we get the spit, prepare to see every online arena be stuffed full of them. Coops. Dogfights. Life in FB as we know it will change forever.

Soon there'll be spitfires in the oven. Spitfires in the microwaves. Spitfires under the bed. Spitfires in the closets. Spitfires in the back seat. Spitfires in front of the TV. Spitfires on the TV. Spitfires in the dog crate. Spitfires on the front lawn. Spitfires in the garage. Spitfires on the keyboard....

Am I right? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The new mk ix looks wonderful. I certainly hope it makes the add-on. Hat's off to Gibbage & company!

One small request though - as Gibbage is moving on to other things, could another modeller do a version of the ix with the earlier round style rudder and the small mk V carb intake? This was the *main* version of the ix and will give us a fighter that we can fly from 1942-1945. The pointy tail didn't come in until 1944.

It's a small detail that would really help with the immersion factor.

I would also add that if luthier's add-on is set in either the Pacific or the Med, then in the interests of realism (and fun!) we should get the tropicalized Mk V and the Mk VIII. At least, I'd like to see these planes.

But first the round-tail mk ix. Please.

.303s vs 109s ? Aim for the fuel tanks and you'll do fine - it worked in a Hurricane anyway.

Plz Oleg, dont forget this important payload option;

"The versatile Spitfire found alternative employment on more humanitarian duties, when underwing mountings were modified to carry a pair of small beer barrels in place of the bombs. Aircraft returning to the Continent from England were warmly greeted!"

Just to let ya know I fly the hurricane all the time and cant wait for any spit version in the addon. My money is sitting on my desk waiting till feb. On the .303 in fb they could be a little stronger, but I dnt need that been rockin 109s like crazy. it is where hit them that is the important thing. I recomend the 1943 RAF gunnery manuel.
