Anone know what the 2 tube-like things are on the bottom of this Me-262A-1?

not 100% sure but looks like they are rocket assist take off packs.
I can do a little research later when i get home.

PC + UE is ME262 V5 fitted with two Jumo 004 A0 Engines.

It first flew on the 6th June 1943 and was the first ME262 fitted with tricycle undercarriage. The nosegear was based on that of the ME309 Fighter in development at that time.

This was also the first ME262 tested with Rheinmetall-Borsig R109-502 RATO Boosters which were fitted on the 20th of July 1943. Each booster was rated at 500KG (1100 lbs)thrust and used solid fuel propellant.

That picture is of ME262 V5 coming in to land.

i see photos of them up front more i thought they were rockets tubes, right to the left and right side of the nose gear door.

your photo shows them further back which has me thinking its a rocket assisted take off. Would be good to know what they are.
