View Full Version : What are the right joystick settings in IL2 conf?

Hi all,

Just a quickie. I've got some problems with very sensitive characteristics in my joystick handling especially when rolling and pitching (especially in the Rata and pitching when in the Hurri's).

I expect it may be due to the joystick settings in IL2's conf files. I have a standard PC Navigator joystick and all was relatively fine until I started messing around with the joystick conf settings after installing the 1.04 patch!! So can any one help me define the right settings please. Much obliged to all, especially to the non-whiners out there!!!

My conf settings are:-

I think if you do some searching around, you'll find Oleg's settings, on the 'Eric Brwon reviews FB' thread from about 6 weeks ago.

They work quite nicely.

Remember that EVERY joystick may require different settings. They may even be different between joysticks of the same model, depending upon age and wear. It is best for you to experiment with different settings to see what works best for you.

In FB control menu, I am using this for pitch and roll...

Its a slightly updated version of what I was doing in the earlier thread but more justifiable. Basically I wanted to keep dividing max input 100 nine times by some number "X" until I reach 1 .. (nine numbers to be created below max 100 with the last, and lowest, number being 1).

100 / X^9 = 1

or solved for... X = 100^(1/9) = 1.668

Each number is 1.668 times larger than the previous number, rounding to nearest integer of course so it does not look like 1.668 but it was 1.668 before roundoff. Oleg's square numbers seem to make me flip flop extreme control movement with medium stick movement, this number sequence lets you smoothly transition from small control movement with small stick input to medium control movement with medium stick input to large control movement with large stick movement. (wow)
