Please do something to clean this place up. It's out of control. For every one thread of useful, new information, there are 20 of pure garbage appearing at such a rate that it almost impossible to sort the wheat from the chaff. Of all the forums I frequent (mostly hardcore sim and wargame related) this is by far the most unfriendly, unhelpful and downright immature. It really surprises me to find things this way in a hardcore sim forum.

The carrot has failed terribly here. I think a little stick is in order. Ban the trouble-makers and spammers. Delete redundant, rude or whining threads. If a thread already exists for a topic, send posters to that thread and lock down the new ones. Specifically, banning members for simply repeatedly posting simply in order to boost their post-count (which, believe it or not, means NOTHING!) would do wonders for the user-friendliness of the forums.

The somewhat twisted belief that forums are a democracy (or more properly an anarchial democracy); that users should be allowed to impose their will on others users, (ruining both the pleasure and usefulness of the forums for them), simply because to limit their speech would be somehow unfair or unjust is dragging this place deep into the cesspool.

This is not a democracy. This is a business service. Allowing some customers to corrupt and hijack that service for their own purposes, pleasures and whims to the detriment of other customers is simply BAD BUSINESS.

Does anybody else think the phrase "hard-core sim" sounds kind of dirty.

XyZspineZyX

So was "Leisure-Suit Larry" a soft-core sim, then?

Anyone remember those games? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Well, A.K., the first 5 replies to your post were from people whose post totals exceed 10,000 and they are typical of the pearls of wisdom those 10,000 posts contain.

Go to SimHQ for a bit more sanity, sometimes not much more but the sigs are shorter.

Drop by here for info from the front page and pop open the asylum door once in awhile to see who makes 10,000 individual less than 5 words posts first.

XyZspineZyX
08-07-2003, 10:43 PM

XyZspineZyX

this person only has 200 posts, I can't even fathom why I should lay my 3000+ post count eyes on the peasant.

Oh and I was a member of SimHQ before here, so umm there.
