View Full Version : How do games get placed in the "Best Games" section?

I've got a good one here... PRJensen played like a champ.

I'd love to say that I sacced the bishop to open his king up but that's just not what happened http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. I realized that I messed up and lost a piece and then started attacking like mad. It worked out for me in the end where my light square bishop (he had a dark square bishop that wasn't doing much other than being a pawn) and my queen were able to force a mate. (in bishops of opposite color attack attack attack).

Good game, think it should be in the best games section also http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I have no idea how the games are choosen. I know I have 2 wins in the section and they are ok played. I also have 2 losses in the section that I can't see any reason for why they are there. Thoose 2 were not good, they were humiliating.
I would imagine that it has something to do with the value of the game, the perfection that they are choosed on. I think it would be something like an engine quickly analysing the game when its finish and if it has a high enough game value, it gets into the best games section. If not it just gets into the database. But again I really have no idea. One thing I'm sure of though is that the CM team isn't choosing them by themselves. Imagine the entire team looking at all the games that has been played over a week to find thoose good ones that'll go into the best games section http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
They are most likely choosen by an engine in some way.

I guess the games played between the best players are cosidered as "best games". I think players should be allowed to vote for this category, though.

I don't think it works. Otherwise, if it works, why is a player with no games placed 21st? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yeah I agree the best games section is stupid if its just between the highest rated players. Heck, a game where I lost by disconnect after 9 moves is in the top 15 imagine that! But if you really want to see some games check out the only games I beat Chessmaster on Grandmaster level but the first one I put it on bullet time for the computer while I thought for about 20 minutes on that game. lol.
