View Full Version : Ongoing Mission - Endless mode

Would it be possible to develop an endless mode for Ongoing missions? Where, randomly, different ongoing missions would activate while in the universe. I believe this would be an easier way to program a "hard mode" without reworking the mission system or generating new types of missions.

So, as an example, once you are in an "Endless Mode" mission you could get a recovery mission, while on course for a recovery mission an escort mission also appears. These missions would continue to pop up and random time intervals and would often overlap with the current mission you are on.

At any point, you could warp back to Star Fleet to end the mission. This will challenge users to see how long they can survive as a crew before their hull is destroyed or they safely return to the fleet.

A mini 5yr mission, I like it. Not sure how the game implements the sessions, in other words whether it's possible to load that many 'mission parameters' in one session. It may well be that the easiest way would be to still have the lobby between missions but with a 'cumulative damage' toggle for the captain so the next mission loads with the hull damage, torpedo count and subsystem repair percentages from the previous.

We need this ASAP to keep the game alive in lieu of more complex missions where we have to actually THINK and not be hand-held from mission waypoint to mission waypoint.

But this has been requested, posted about and threaded several times already. Do we need another thread for the same thing?

Yep I like this idea a lot, should be pretty easy to do and adds a sort of survival game twist.

Cut the patronising and condescending attitude. I guess you like filling the forum with multiple posts about the same things, as you do it often enough.

Besides, if you missed it, I even agreed with the original post, but you just want to bully me.

If they did it in a cycle of the missions we have now, I'd appreciate the option not to return to briefing room, but that's about it.

Heck, if you really do dig the idea of truly "ongoing" voyages, I'd assume you'd also be willing to pay a subscription, yeah? Not that that will happen.

If the game started out as an MMO I would give it a shot for sure. As for paying for a sub now? most likely not. However, 100% what you said on not returning to briefing mode.

I
Although you might be right, as I have not researched it, I don't believe I fill these forums with multiple posts about the same thing.

As for bullying, not my goal. More like light heartily relaying the idea that you don't need to administrate my forum post. I know you have good intentions and a huge passion for star trek and this game. I just dislike the idea of trying to suppress other's ideas because they do not fall in line with what one considers the greater good.

I honestly read all of your posts and thought you would be a fun person to play with. Just remember that this is an online community with many ideas. Some can and will be bad. Normally those bad ideas will lose steam on their own.

Example: I wanted to do a Bridge Crew tournament. I posted the idea a while back both on reddit and these forums. However, noone had interest and it lost steam by itself.

Just my .02. I normally have a light-hearted tone with most of my post. If I conveyed that incorrectly then I apologize
