The guy who uploaded video has the best Beyond Good & Evil fan site around, unfortunately (for me atleast) it's all in French.

Awesome interview, gave too many new information! And comparing the game to Zelda and Witcher was a relief to me because those two franchises are epic! It saddened me though that he confirmed that we won't to get to play as Jade at all in the game, but hey, he also confirmed that she and Pay'j will be in the game!!

I'm okay with not playing Jade. I expected Pey'j to be ingame as he is probably one keypoint of the story if we consider the first game and the origin of the space ship.
Beluga isn't it?
Jade will be very young tho if not a baby.

The game obviously aims for it's own plot but at the same time aims to connect the stories and clear the origin of Pey'j and Jade. There will be a ton more backround information.

Well we all learned to never buy a used space drive...
I played the german version of the game but the words the board computer had to say while trying to undock the hovercraft over nonplayable space is genius^^

"short" sum up of the French interview http://www.jeuxvideo.com/videos/reportages/673082/interview-bge-2-michel-ancel-nous-presente-l-univers-du-jeu.htm

- Michel on outer space and exploration: its not so much about the number of planets than about how rich and unique the planets will be, i.e. a planet can be a satellite of a bigger one, with one side protected by the mother planet and the other side exposed to meteorites. As you explore this side of the planet, you will see in real time the meteorites fall and create craters. Imagine then mining happening, controlled by a mafia, as you explore their ships you see hybrid slaves, which leads you back to the investigation aspect of the game. That's an example of how all the cities are connected to each other.

- BGE1 is the reference, the framework. He sees BGE2 as an "exponential" of the 1 rather than a "second" one => taking the main key features of the first game to the next next level. i.e. lots of new vehicles, ships, SUBMARINE EXPLORATION, races and more "exotic games" based on the vehicles (doesn't develop on that but mentions there's nothing better to infiltrate a mafia than to play a game of POKER to obtain the trust of the organisation and gain infos, take pictures etc.)

- the multiplayer aspect: the game is made to be great solo and if you want you can open your game to a friend, it's very intuitive and easy to do, and you can share clues, pictures, fight together, etc but you won't be compelled to do so. I guess it means that you'll be able to switch easily between solo and multiplayer mode.

-Michel then talks about the creation process of the game, how the first step is to ask practical questions like if we have jet packs the architecture of the cily changes because you can have doors on top of the houses, houses piled up etc and that's through these kinds of questions that you build up the whole universe. He calls it "world logic". Choosing pirates makes you think about what a pirate spaceship and crew look like and you can find yourself making hints at Albator without meaning to in the first place.

- on the release date: had they wanted to showcase a proper, polished gameplay demo they would have waited another year. But the game is so big that they wanted players to participate from the earliest stages of production thus the space monkey program. Everything is moving very fast now that the game has been announced.

There ya go :) Thought I'd mention that pretty much all he said are examples used to explain an idea, a concept and so are NOT 100% facts except the submarine exploration part where he definelty said "there will be submarine exploration"

so glad to hear about submarine exploration. My dream of a planet covered by water and underwater city like atlantis, underwater caves to explore for hidden caches of pirate treasure and underwater monsters
