are those maps solely playable through that disk or will it add them to the playable maps of gr-it for online play?

after a long time searching on this subject i found this;

September 11, 2003 - Fans who pre-order Rainbow Six 3 for Xbox beginning Monday September 15 will be treated to an exclusive Tom Clancy demo disc featuring playable demos of Rainbow Six 3, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon: Island Thunder. Futhermore, all-new playable levels for Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon: Island Thunder can be downloaded from the demo disc and saved to your Xbox hard drive for use in the full retail versions of Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon: Island Thunder.
The new Splinter Cell content includes two new missions involving the Russian nuclear submarine Vselka. Sam is back in his "Snake Eyes" stealth outfit again as he infiltrates a submarine base and then the submarine itself to stop nuclear warheads from falling into the wrong hands.

The Ghost Recon Island Thunder content includes four brand new maps:

Aurora - A barren nighttime desert scenario with campfires and a walled compound. You have to prevent friendly troops from being ambushed
Riverbed - Desert canyons are separated by a dried-up river and road with a useless bridge. You have to neutralize and enemy stronghold
Roadblock - An intersection with an old fortress and hospital is littered with debris. You help man the roadblock and fight off attacking rebels.
Tank - A narrow road with bridges that cross canyons a river. You help escort a supply convoy.
The new maps for both games were likely intended to be downloadable content at some point, but using the popularity of Ghost Recon:Island Thunder and Splinter Cell to leverage early sales of Rainbow Six 3 makes plenty of sense if you're Ubi Soft. Plus the company gets to show off its spiffy new logo sooner rather than later.

Until you're ready to plop down your paper on a RS3 pre-order, you can enjoy fresh movies of the new Splinter Cell content right now. Just head to the media section.

SO YOU HEARD IT HERE FOLKS. I heard back when purchasing GR-IT that the maps were most likely allready on the disk and what you really would dl is an unlocking code. So if a host picks up this disk and has his room set to play a new map but you have not gotten this disk to unlock the map, you would still be able to play it. Just as you were able to play in a room on the original GR if the host had chosen a map to play that you had yet to unlock, you were not blocked from playing it. So thats what to expect on tuesday mornin. I for see alot of RS3 preorders on tuesday!!!

I live in the UK, the land Ubi hate and dont release these disks for, and I was given the option to save downloadable content when I signed onto GRIT today!!!!

The level is REFINERY "Save an oil refinery from rebel forces" it's 656blocks....

you can even pause the download!! for why I dont know!

great stuff Ubi keep em coming! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

PS just checked and you can play it on MP or quick mission with standard 4 modes for the latter.

the refinery must be the 5th one. there are only 4 on that disk

Interesting. Too bad Ubi doesn't ever provide the community with any information on its own site.

So of the original Desert Siege maps, D01 Beach, D03 Train Depot and D06 Ghost Town came with GRIT. Sounds like the RS disk has D04 Riverbed, D05 Aurora, D07 Roadblock and D08 Tank. I'm intriqued by SHAOLIN_SPIDER's post that the UK can download D02 Refinery. That's all eight of the Desert Siege maps.

SHAOLIN, is that the only one available? What about the four expected on the RS disk?

Can you play Mission mode on D02 Refinery or just Defend, Recon and Firefight (as with D01 Beach, D03 Train Depot and D06 Ghost Town)? For the record, the game box promised 5 downloadable "Missons," not just maps.

The Refinery is playable as a mission(i.e with objectives) through the Quick Mission menu and it was the only one I had available for Download

ahhh well, maybe we'll get them in a month or two /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

its the RS3 demo I really wanted /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

this is not just available to the people in the uk. turn on your xbox and play and sign in to gr. and it will prompt you to dl it. Its a good map and all modes are available to play on it.
