I have been flying MS flight sims since 98 and have always avoided the combat sims for some reason. I picked up the original IL-2 for $20 CAN and "wow!". It is really a great game with a nice feel in flying. I like the concept too. I don't want to step on anyone's toes but it's nice to fly a campaign away from the usual US perspective of WW2. Very cool game. I may have to buy Forgotten Battles when this patch comes out.

You must! Trust me, you would love it even as it is now! However, I am used to flying as it is, and will soon have to learn alot all over again /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif So maybe better to wait. Oleg described IL2 as a "demo" for FB. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Death is just nature's way of telling you to watch your airspeed.

Ha ha, you just reminded me that I've been flying MS flight sim since the 1st one came out in the 80's.

Then the graphics consisted of your instuments and a grid that represented the world's terrain. They couldn't even reproduce a smooth circle in those days to represent your instruments with. And talk about slow FPS!!

Yes, FB and the original release IL-2 are a great step forward.
