I noticed that the bf-109 variants in particular the E and the F have variances in performance. There was really no difference between the E4 and E4B and yet, there is a significant performance drop with the E4B. Same for the F2 and F4. The only difference between these two variants was the armament. The compare program gives the F4 a much higher top speed and climb rate....why??

E4/B has bombracks. F4 has different engine than F2 I think (at least modelled that way).

Hey, you want a really good laugh http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Look in the object viewer and compare the data between 109F2 and 109F4 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

i'm thinking F2 has 601N, but F4 has 601E (but without GM-1), or something like that.

Actually, the Bf-109 F-2 had the same DB-601N engine as the E-7 series. With the advent of the Bf-109 F-3 and subsequent F-4 model, the new DB-601E was introduced. The difference between the two models was roughly 250 horsepower, giving the F-4 the edge in performance. Hope this helps answer your question!
